Apparently Per has retired from international football. Should be great news for Arsenal if so.

Also; I cannot wait for tomorrow. It hasn't been long since the long since the World Cup, and that was nice and everything, but it's so good to have Arsenal (and the Premiership) back. :D

Fucking hell, that was hard work. Huge relief to finally see that one home.

Santi had an absolute shocker & Alexis didn't dazzle on his debut but the curtailed pre-season has a huge part to play in that, I'm sure. Very impressed with Chambers today though. His composure on the ball is impressive for one so young.

Chambers is special. I've only seen him today and in the Emirates cup, but can see exactly why Wenger wanted him. He's a serious talent and was immense today with Koscielny.

Thought the same. I really like Jenkinson but you can see the difference and why Jenks is off on loan and Chambers starts today (a few other factors not withstanding). I'd quite like to see Chambers at RB for a proper comparison.

I was VERY impressed with him! He could be a very special player and someone who could notch up 100 England caps over the next decade as we are not exactly blessed with decent central defenders in this country.

We were not very good today and I never like to see Ramsey & Wilshere together as I don't think it works very well, but a win is a win. I'll take it.

I can see him partnering a certain Spurs debutant who also had a very good game today, for England for many years to come.

Don't really like the 4-3-3, seems like we've become accustomed to playing with a No10 as it was all a bit slow and predictable in the final third. I can see why we're using it though, given the available personnel.

On the plus side, the bench was fairly strong, even without Theo and the Germans.

What's going to happen to Wilshere long-term? I can't see him fitting into this team anywhere when everyone's fit. Özil's locked down as the no.10 & Ramsey is our most important player now & is the driving force in central midfield. When Theo's back Alexis will either play centrally or on the left & Jack doesn't possess the skill-set to play the holding role. So where does he go? On the bench or nowhere it seems to me. There's been a lot of talk about how this is the season where he needs to step up & fulfill his potential but if Ramsey & Özil avoid injury I can't see him getting much opportunity to prove his worth.

Don't see why this is a make or break season for him, he's 22. That scrote Scholes was having a pop at him, conveniently forgetting that he himself hadn't achieved half of Wilshere's experience at 22. Maybe he doesn't get in the XI when everyone is fit, but he'll get plenty of game time I think, and he's still a pretty productive player for his age. Just no more of him and Arteta in a pair, please.

He needs to pull his finger out and make it impossible for Wenger to leave him out. Right now he's the obvious choice to sit on the bench when everyone is fit. As I said above, I don't like it when Ramsey and Wilshere are in the same starting 11. It seems too congested with neither of them allowed to play their natural game as they are often in each others way.

Of course it's a nice problem for Wenger to have with all these quality midfielders at his disposal, but he needs to find a system that works and is adaptable. I would personally set the team up in a way that allows Ramsey to play to the best of his ability. When he's at the top of his game he's the best player we've got as he can score, pass and make a real nuisance of himself.
