I've only seen the goals, how was it really?

Decent performance. Sanchez, Cazorla and Rambo looked good, Wilshere didn't. Chambers impressed at CB again. City were poor though, didn't really turn up. Just a glorified pre-season fixture though so nothing to get carried away with.

Edit: Debuchy looked good going forward, defensively a little suspect in places.

Two things from two of the goals today, Cazorla's little drag before he shot, such a great bit of movement from him, the ball looked glued to his foot! and lastly, Giroud seemed to know that last one was going on before it had left his foot, great goal :D

Surely that was just terrible goalkeeping.

Keeper maybe could have done better but sometimes you've just gotta hand it to the scorer and put it down as a great strike.

Ramsey's first touch for his goal weren't bad either.

I have no idea who the fella is, but we really need a centre half so this pleases me:

From F365:

"Olympiakos have left Arsenal target Kostas Manolas out of their squad to face Athletic Bilbao in a friendly. Greek TV are suggesting a £8m fee has been agreed."

He plays for the Greece national team and I've thought he's done fairly well when I've seen him. As far as I remember he had a pretty good World Cup too.

Never seen him play club football though and obviously there isn't much in common between being a defender for the Greek team and the Arsenal team...

Calum Chambers has looked excellent so far. However we should remind ourselves that he's played just a handful of games in his whole career including just one 'meaningful' game for us. I think him being 3rd choice CB is asking a lot but maybe doable. Time will tell.

I wonder if the 3rd/4th choice CB should be someone like Agger. I doubt if he'd go for it but if Kos has already picked up an injury and Per is surely a few weeks away from being ready then maybe it's all to fight for.

That said, a settled pairing, like last season, is surely the way to go.

If Kos has indeed picked up a knock we could be looking at a CB pairing of Chambers & Monreal for the opening few games of the new season.

I'd take Manolas as 4th choice as he looked decent in the World Cup. Greece knew how to defend.

It's just a little worrying if we need to play for any length of time with a Manolas and Chambers.

Chambers has looked very good so far (matter of time before he's called up for England) but we may be putting a bit too much too soon on his shoulders.

Disagreement with the owner regarding how much control/input Pulis had over transfers apparently & the club's failure to sign the targets he'd requested. I think they're bonkers, personally. Love him or loathe him, he did a remarkable job last season guiding them to a mid-table finish when they looked like a certainty for relegation.
