Did anyone hear Owen's hilarious speech yesterday about the best teams needing pace? Someone here brought out recently about how his 'analysis' basically boils down to him saying that every team needs someone like him in the side. If yesterday's speech was a parody I would have said it was overdone. He must have used the word 'pace' ten times in a minute.

After a few early mentions of pace I thought it might make for a good drinking game, fortunately I didn't bother or I'd have undoubtedly have been hospitalised by half time.

And what was that bit where he said there wasn't much pace in the team and they'd been missing it but now they have Alexis... and Walcott and Oxlade Chamberlain and Gibbs and seemingly half the team they already had they all of a sudden did have pace. PACE!

was a better members day than the one I went to a couple of years back, then they all just strolled around and nothing much happened - this time there was a 2 touch no tackling 10 v 10 game on a small pitch which was where you could really appreciate some of the touches and passing.

don't know where Ramsey been getting all his tricks from, he started showing them in matches last year but he more than held his own in a passing circle training thing with the likes of Cazorla and Alexis, impressive.

having spent the whole session doing low powered 1:1 training with a fitness coach was quite amusing to see the tweet go up on the big screen saying 'Diaby looking sharp in training' - he never kicked a ball !

despite the fact that Turkish teams are all a bit shite, and they seem incapable of playing away from home, I always prefer to avoid Turkish opponents

its those 'welcome to hell' signs and Leeds fans getting stabbed in the buttocks with screwdrivers I think.

You'd think they'd have learned after paying £20m for Song.

Does anyone follow Nicklas Bendtner on twitter? His account is so sad at the moment. He keeps tweeting about how he's off to training and stuff, and yesterday all he had was a picture of a bag of boots, and now there's a video of him just on his own in a field.

Yet you still know as soon as the arrogant twat gets signed by somebody desperate on the last day of the window (west ham is my bet), he would still get a shirt with his weekly wage on the back.

Bloke is a twat and deserves a bit of time to dwell on how he's ballsed his career up

He's not an incredible talent but by virtue of being signed young by Arsenal on a long contract he had the golden ticket, he was never likely to be Ronaldo or Messi I agree but as long as you apply yourself a bit and aren't a total arse, that Arsene stamp of approval should be enough to carry a career in most countries (see David Bentley, Adebayor, Djourou, Senderos etc)

Instead he let it go to his head and has become so toxic that nobody in europe wants to touch him (along with Dench Frimpong)

That fits my definition of ballsing it up, he's sat at home training on his own unemployed when he could easily have been with a club probably pulling down £50k + a week. There are plenty of teams that come up every year that pay good money to 6-7 goal a year strikers.

Great bit of business to sell Vermaelen for £15m but it leaves us worryingly short in central defence, especially with Sagna also having left. It's risking a hell of a lot to expect Chambers to be ready to step into that hole if one of Per or Koscielny get injured, so we need to sign a back-up pronto imo.
