So why haven't we signed Debuchy yet?

Maybe some of the admin stuff can't be done over the weekend, or something. Alternatively maybe it was all completely fabricated bollocks. Who knows?

In other potentially fabricated bollocks, the Khedira buzz seems to be getting progressively louder. He's more box-to-box than the other two (Scheiderlin, Bender) we've been linked with, and is probably the better player, though perhaps the other two are better suited in terms of what we're in need of. Very good (at least) players all though, I'd be very pleased if we get any of them.

I've only just seen it (having looked it up after you asked the question)... Can't say it makes for pleasant viewing, but I suppose it's the most memorable game they showed (on BT Sport) last year, so it's understandable.

That said, if anyone who didn't remember it was a BT Sport game (i.e. most people) saw it then I'd understand them thinking it a bit partisan, and you'd think they'd have realised that showing a team getting a absolute battering wouldn't endear the channel to their supporters*, I would imagine most Liverpool fans and neutrals find it pretty funny though, so from everybody else's perspective/that point of view it's probably quite a good advert.

* I think most Arsenal fans think BT Sport have jinxed them somehow as it is.

Not seen it yet but not overly bothered if theyve used the Liverpool game for an ad, the only Arsenal fans Ive seen who have an issue with it tend to have a history of getting upset over the smallest of things anyway

It'd be awfully cynical to think that BT Sport are using a pro-Liverpool advert because Liverpool fans are the most vociferously anti-Murdoch and therefore the most likely to switch broadband providers...

I kinda hope the Khedira stuff is a smokescreen for a move on Schneiderlin or even Bender, as I think they fit our needs much better. Khedira is an excellent player but I'm not convinced his passing is good enough to replace Arteta, and it's unclear how good his defensive positioning is either.

That said, if Arsene really does think Khedira is the guy for us then I'm obviously happy to trust his judgment.

The Khedira that went to Real Madrid would be a fairly straight replacement for Flamini, although he's changed a fair bit since then. If we're replacing Arteta it's probably not the right signing, but if he's sticking around it'd be a really good signing.

How can you be sad at all when Poldi is walking around flashing his trademark stupid grin?!

So pleased for the three of them though. Three of my favourites, for varying different reasons.

Haha, got to love him though. He always looks like he's permanently enjoying himself & I'm over the moon that we have 3 World Cup winners in our squad. Hopefully we can add a 4th :D

From Sky..

Egypt international Ahmed Fathi is set to link up with Arsenal for pre-season training, Sky Sports can confirm.

The 29-year-old has won over 100 caps for his country, and Arsene Wenger is understood to have been a long-term admirer having first tried to sign him some nine years ago - but at that time, he did not qualify for a work permit.

Fathi, a defensive midfielder or right-back..

Hmmm.

I've heard of him, he was slightly shit for Sheffield United when they were in the Premiership (I think...). I'm reasonably sure they sold him for a pittance - the kind of money that even Arsene-during-stadium-building would pay. Unless he's come on leaps and bounds since then, I have no idea why we'd be signing him if we didn't want him then.

BT Sport pro-Liverpool? Not with a punditry line up that features Steve Mcmanaman, Michael Owen and David James :P

I'm not sure why so many ex-Liverpool players make it as a pundit or co-commentators. And Michael Owen is fucking awful! Having said that, I know most people hate him but Lawrenson is class. His little quips and put-downs are often hilarious.
You can call me biased if you like, but I could listen to Lee Dixon or Martin Keown all day long as they are both excellent pundits who speak sense.
