Wondered through Carnaby Street after a spot of dinner tonight.

Surprising number of folk queued up outside, assumed that Sanchez or Debuchy might have been there but apparently not, these guys just really wanted this seasons kit.

Liverpool fans on my Facebook feed are raging. I mean, choosing a club who actually wanted to buy you over one who saw you as a makeweight in somebody else's transfer. What a prick Sanchez is!

The thing is we as fans really have no idea whether Liverpool ever wanted him or not (no offer was ever reported). The media link our clubs to so many players and the fans start believing all these amazing players are going to sign and then when they don't and they go somewhere else, the fans go nuts at the thought that their club has been shunned for another.

The reality is more likely that Arsenal came in for him and offered him a great deal including having his family in the capital and Liverpool were more likely linked because of the Suarez transfer. It's been shown time and time again player swaps rarely take place.

Having said all that, I'd have loved him at Liverpool though.

Why on Earth are we signing this kid from Athleti? Especially on loan? Ridiculous decision, considering we have Jenks and Bellerin who I assume is going out on loan?

In less miserable bastard news, the constant rumours of Khedira make me very happy. But not too happy. Just in case we Mata it up.

So, am I the only person who actually quite likes the 3rd kit? I think it might be partially the green trim (which reminds me of the Seattle Seahawks jersey, which I also really like, despite a certain level of loudness), but I think it's quite nice. Also think it would probably be the best of the three when worn out in the real world.* Obviously not seen it in the flesh yet, but am going to the Emirates Cup with my girlfriend on August 2nd (the Saturday), and she wants to stop in the shop anyway*, so I think I might take a proper look at it then.

I'll probably just decide I'd rather have one of the yellow retro kits, but still.

Hoping to see a Sanchez debut, along with some other new signings... *crosses fingers*

Looking forward to it though. Haven't managed to go at all yet this (calendar) year, for one reason or another, so looking forward to making a day of it, especially with pre-season positivity still in the air. :)

* I haven't bought a kit in about 15 years though, so what do I know? Also worth noting that it was the purple and black number from a couple of years ago that's tempted me most to break that run, so I may just be colourblind/insane.

** She has, despite being a Norwegian (Valerenga and) Manchester United supporter, abruptly decided that she quite wants an Arsenal shirt, as she says she'll come to some games with me, and looks hot in football shirts anyway. She's never been to the Emirates before (or any other English ground), so I'm hoping that the combination of the shirt and her "awe" at the stadium might start to move her away from that other lot...

Jenkinson has been mentioned in the Debuchy rumours, so maybe he's going on loan too?

I still don't get why though. Jenks has played enough games now to know the league and the style and pace of game we play. He's played at right back and centre back and whilst still has to develop, is the perfect 2nd choice. He's shown to be a decent, if not spectacular player so far and has a brilliant cross on him and an astonishing work ethic. He can be naive positionally, but he's young and will improve with games with us. I don't care how good this other kid coming in is, he's inexperienced in England and not being the first choice means he's going to be learning as he goes with scant opportunities and in that respect Bellerin makes more sense in having played at Under 21 level, in the Championship with Watford (albeit barely) and has been with the club and squad long enough to slot in if we need him. It just seems odd and strikes me as a bit of a waste of time when there's plenty of other positions we should be looking at, especially if we've got Debuchy in.

Also, I love the 'Cup' kit. Always a sucker for a blue kit and the new one is lovely; the green really sets it off and is a nice touch to our weird green kit in the 80s. Possibly.

Maybe I love it just because it reminds me of this though, my favourite 'childhood' kit:

If Jenkinson is part of the Debuchy deal, it might be what is needed for it to go through.
