I'd say he's a bit more attacking/Box-to-box than Schneiderlin. Like Khedira, he's not really a 'screening' midfielder like Arteta, and I think unless Ramsey is going to curb his attacking next season, we need someone of that type to just sit, win the ball, and help build from the back. He's also had a pretty poor season I think.

Interesting. I would also prefer we bought someone in who was purely defensive but also a bit more dynamic than Arteta, as that's something we lacked last season. Won't hurt to have options.

Sanchez, Debuchy and a reserve keeper should total about £45m in fees. If they do come, I can see us leaving it at that tbh, and waiting to see who becomes available as the window comes to a close. I reckon if we sign someone like Schneiderlin, it will only be late in the day, and probably then only if we haven’t managed to get a centre forward.

Let's not be chicken counting!

I would be hugely surprised if we didn't get a defensive midfielder though. It's availability more than transfer balance that decides these things really.

Thing is we've got Arteta on probably £60k/week and Flamini on similar with 2 years left on his deal. He'd be hard to shift on that salary I think but would never play if we kept him and signed someone else.

What are the chances we unveil Sanchez and Debauchy tomorrow in some crazy unveiling of new signings and new kit, new kit maker bonanza shenanigans.

That's what Americans like to do isn't it.

Proper WWE style.

Think the signing announcements, if they happen, would maybe come after the kit launch. Doesn't seem like brilliant marketing to launch your kit but no one gives a crap because they're all talking about the new player. I'm certainly no expert but to me a new player unveiling at the same time would detract from Puma's hype rather than enhance it.

Toys put it more facetiously but I'm wondering why people think the new kit launch would get any media traction outside of Puma and Arsenal's own PR.

A new signing in a new kit gets a picture in a national paper with a few words about the new kit. A new kit gets nothing anywhere.
