Hope you're right. Trying to wring another full season out of Arteta is asking for trouble, especially as his effectiveness diminishes so much when Ramsey isn't alongside him.

edit: In more linked-striker news, Here's a stats thingy on why Alvaro Morata could turn out to be really fucking good indeed.

I would declare this an acceptable transfer. I don't know why they'd sell him though, seems a bit mental. Maybe a loan?

They've done incredible business because they found clubs desperate enough to spend £80m on Mata & David Luiz! Hard to compete with that when they're already super rich as it is.

We won't really know if this was sensible until the window closes, and even then, nothing is certain. The difference will really come on the pitch, and I don't think there are 100% guarantees that Cesc and Costa will set the league on fire. We just need to do our own business, bolster our squad where needed, then wait and see.

Real Madrid are all about the mental. Depends if they're after Suarez/Cavani I guess. Morata probably wants to play more - Ancelotti was preferring Jese at times last season.

Suarez would be an amazing signing for them, lots of the reservations I would have about him coming to Arsenal (eg. He'd try and move to Real Madrid) aren't exactly applicable there and he would be a big step up from Benzema. But I'd still keep Morata as the second choice.

But £25m, snap him up. With Vela being fast and small, Sanogo being tall and slow, and Giroud being...Handsome...That's a really well put together strike force. Especially with sort-of Podolski and sort-of Walcott.

Problem with Morata is he's a long way from the finished article due to his inexperience. If he didn't hit the ground running people would be on Wenger's back in an instant for buying "yet another promising youngster" or whatever.

Sucks but what the hey, that's how things are today. The part that pisses me off most is that Cesc is now knowingly working for a manager who so totally disrespects Wenger.

As long as we sign some decent players for the positions we actually require I'm happy. Do we know what other foreign clubs were in for for him btw?

That picture is just sickening. I think I might actually throw up.

I know Cesc might have not been part of our plans and we are not really in a position to buy a player for £30million just to stop Chelsea getting him but that picture is horrible. Disgusting.

We better do some serious business this window and as much as I still like Cesc I hope he makes Torres's time at Chelsea look like the signing of the century.

As hauk says really.

I hope you fuckers who didn't want him are happy. You shit bags.

It's not really a case of no one wanting him. But we can't be spending £30m on a guy just so Chelsea don't buy him. We can't concern ourselves with what other clubs are doing, we have to prioritise our own business, and obviously an expensive attacking midfielder isn't part of those plans. We just have to hope that whoever is, is a darn good player.

Who would have been happy selling Santi or Podolski for 15m and chipping that towards Cesc? The more I think about it, the more attractive it sounds. Only Ozil is anywhere near Cesc level in our team. I know it means nothing now, but I struggle to see who we'll sign who'd make our team better than Cesc would have.

It's all about intent. Chelsea sign a lot of players that don't work out, but you can't fault their ambition. They don't mess around when it comes to signing players as they know who they want and go out and get them. Bastards.

I'm taking solace in the fact that any Arsenal guy on twitter who has ever given the slightest indication of being "in the know", is totally fine with us passing on Cesc (even Le Grove, who would be the first to use this to have a pop at the club if he was concerned). Hopefully we've got something special brewing.

Diaby could be fit for the start of August.

Let's be honest, there's nothing we can do this summer that's going to match signing Costa and Fabregas.

OH MY GOD YOU HAD TO SAY IT!

I said this before but the pressure is on Ozil, if Cesc smashes it and Ozil pulls a fucking moody we'll look like mugs. If I had to bet my last pound I'd put it on Cesc coming out better. Right now I'd have Cesc and forget Ozil ever happened but that's partly due to that crime scene of a photo up there.

Chelsea, Man City and Real Madrid could afford to do that.

But you don't need him anyway. This will be forgotten if Wenger makes the signing you want.

Most stuff is on hiatus for the World Cup. Even things that look very likely, such as Costa to Chelsea & David Luiz to PSG, haven't had all the details finalised. I'm not too concerned just yet. Gonna just enjoy the WC and worry about Arsenal transfers later.
