I watch football occasionally at my mums, and during the FA Cup game she said that he looks like's lost a lot of weight since she last saw him (not sure how long ago that would have been, a couple of months perhaps). I said he'd always looked really thin but she was adamant he looks thinner now and looks like he either was unwell recently and is recovering or is still unwell.

Dunno. It's got to have been a hard couple of months and he didn't exactly have weight to spare, I would hope he's fine.

Although I still think he's going to leave at the end of the season.

Am I the only one who feels really depressed with all this talk of Arsene chipping? I can't see it being anything else other than a shitstorm. Plus I find it sad to think he won't be around to benefit from all those years of purse tightening. :(

I don't want him around to 'benefit' for years of purse tightening. We need someone far more tactically astute than Wenger. We need someone to come in with fresh ideas and someone who will work with the players on the training ground more often. The amount of days they spend 'conditioning', swimming and getting massaged is bollocks. I'm no sports science expert but I'm sure all the pampering and rub downs contributes to injuries. Get the players out on those damn training pitches. They barely spend 2-3 days a week on them as it is.
Wenger has been the best coach in the history of the club and his first 500 games were the best period I had as a Gooner. If we win the FA Cup final then it's the perfect time to bow out, with a trophy and the area to the right of this image updated:

Open question to you gooners: Do you think you're a shoo-in for 4th now? Is confidence high?

Miles and miles from a shoo-in, but I'm happy with the remaining fixtures and how it is in our own hands. Everton are playing very well though, so it's going to go right down to the wire.

The Everton vs Man City match is the one to watch. That'll give a much clearer picture of what is happening.

anybody else been watching the goings on up north in last day or two and got this impending feeling of doom that this type of thing is coming our way soon when Wenger eventually goes/leaves/gets pushed ?

I'd like to think we'll aim a bit higher than someone of Moyes' calibre, who was always an absurd appointment for a club of that stature.

What's with the £ sign? It's not actually there is it?

Yes, I think we'll scrape 4th and set ourselves up for another season of Champions League failure. Although I was banking on Everton losing against Man City and not Palace. That was a nice bonus.

BTW, a big thanks to everyone for the heavy use of Lanky in the last few posts. Haven't heard that in years

I don't see any way to accommodate Cesc now we have Ozil.

I think what's happening at Barca is a bit like what happened with sections of our support after the early Wenger years. They've become accustomed to such levels of success that they've forgotten the spells their club has always had where they're not dominating. Before Rijkaard/Guardiola you probably have to go back to the Romario/Stoichkov team of the early 90s for another period of success like that for Barcelona, but it's as if the fans have forgotten that and are now demanding that they maintain their 2011 levels for the rest of time.

Arsene Wenger has admitted Abou Diaby, who has been out for over a year, could yet feature before the end of the season.

The midfielder played 45 minutes for the U21s against Chelsea on Tuesday in what was his first action since he suffered a cruciate ligament injury against Swansea 13 months ago.

Wenger said: "He hasn't played for a year, but physically he is ready to play, completely. It is now just decision-making, getting used to challenges again. Everybody counted him out, but he is fit and ready."
