This is all a bit OTT.

Maybe this shows the difference Ozil was making though? The ability to dispatch the 'lesser' sides relatively easily isn't really there without him.

It's totally ridiculous that we're without our four best players at the same time, even by our standards.

Totally. :(

Saturday can get to fuck and by all accounts we played shit tonight but a bit of decent play and we were ahead, only getting a draw by some bad luck leading to an own goal. The headlines and reactions would be totally different were it not for the OG; "we played poorly but good to see us grind out a win". "not great, but 3 points and chance to rebuild" etc. That people are decrying the state of the squad and the lack of quality when our 4 best players are out is ludicrous, for all their talent, if Chelsea were without Hazard, Oscar, Ramieres and Terry they'd be struggling, same for City and Aguero, Toure, Silva and Zabaleta (I ain't including Kompany because that man's as overrated as they come). Yes, they've stronger squads, but that's what your petrodollar buys you but it also reflects Wenger's failure in the last couple of transfer windows. Add in that most of the team played for 70 mins with 10 men with no real day off to recover. Yes, I'm making excuses, but that's because everyone else seems to have decided that we're fucked.

From Daley on twitter, taken tonight btw:

It's ridiculous but it's been such a common thing for most of the last decade to be without our best and brightest for long periods that it looks less like bad luck and more like we consistently sign frail fucking weaklings that make Darren Anderton look like a fucking Terminator in terms of resilience.

Loathe as I am to go all Steve007, I'm all Seinfeld-giffed out here, this mediocrity has worn me down and I want change. Sure, careful what you wish for but this constant cycle of passionless bullshit by a bunch of glass lames has to stop. Tear it all down and start over, from top to bottom.

Sorry to be so negative, chums. :(

I've just arrived in Cusco in Peru after a 27-hour journey & am suffering the first effects of altitude sickness. Thought I'd cheer myself up by having a quick look at the scores to see how well we bounced back against Swansea &.... yeah, fuck that.

I'm here for a month but I don't think I want to keep up to speed with our late-season collapse at this rate. What the fuck is happening to us? Sure we have key players missing but this shouldn't be happening. The City game looks ominous now.

Are you heading up to Colombia at all?

Ramsey has never been injury prone before. Even coming back from a long lay off, he didn't get the niggly muscle strains like most do. God knows what they've done to his thigh in rehab. Probably applied the 'Wilshere's ankle salve', a drop of 'Vermaelen's Achilles tincture', and wrapped it up in a 'Rosicky's hamstring bandage' before sending him off to the gym with Abou Diaby.

It'd be interesting to find out what the conclusions of this internal investigation into our persistent injury-table problem are (not that it will ever be made public). Something hasn't been right there for years now & I'm amazed it's taken them this long to look into it.

Are you heading up to Colombia at all?

Possibly, but I'm leaning towards Bolivia instead. (Don't wanna hijack this thread anymore though, sorry!)

In lots of ways, I think it's a failure of the board and the fans. I've said this before, but as galling as "you can't win anything with kids", "lol paedo" and "in two or three years, maybe" was, we were getting there. We were neglecting the first team to build a solid squad down the line, but then we had a shit time and suddenly a decision was made to sign players like Mertesacker, fully established, for the first team. Which was fine. But now we've veered the other way, spending on the first team at the expense of the squad and of the future.

A game like this, sandwiched between Chelsea and City, and against a relegation candidate shouldn't be a game where we have the whole first 11 on, the same team can't play 60 games. We should be able to be resting all the players that are currently injured in a game like this, bringing in some kids that are battling to prove their worth who in turn force the first 11 to play to keep their place. We've lost that entirely and that's a proper disgrace. Having nothing to excite in the team is what (morally) lost us the game today, not injuries.

Massively coincidentally, Liverpool are doing well aren't they?

I really can't see him ending up anywhere other than PSG. He needs to get a bunch of offers from other places to make sure they're paying him as much as they will, but that's all.

Weird that it's come out just before the City match, too. Total coincidence I'm sure.

Just watched the Invincibles special on Sky Sports. My advice? Don't bother, it'll send you loopy. Not a single player today can hold a candle to that lot. Nowhere near, it's absolutely shocking how we didn't build on that. Sol Campbell, not my favourite, was saying how they simply went out to win. No questions asked, that's what they expected. He had me utterly convinced after half a sentence. Dripping with quality that squad, they'd walk this league  . They were like the City of their time, really good, but the real deal. They'd have given this City team a telling off and a spanking.

Also got thinking about Ozil. Lots of comparisons about him and Pires in their first seasons, like Pires was ropey but came good and so can Ozil etc. etc. so on and so forth. I don't think Ozil will come close. Maybe not entirely his fault, he hasn't exactly got Fred, Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira alongside him but can you see him in the same light as the likes of Robert Pires? Never.

That was a once in a lifetime group.

I dunno man, football has changed a lot. Much faster and more physically intense than back then (I think I read players do around 30% more sprints per game now, compared to 10 years ago), and you have to say it's come on in terms of tactics as well. And that side obviously had a very topsy turvy campaign in the Champions League. Drew a hell of a lot of games in the league as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love watching that season review obvs. Truly great times. But it's hard to say how they'd get on now. The league is a lot harder to win these days, that's for sure.

Can't recall ever seeing so many spares going for a Cat A game on Twitter. Guess people assume we're going to get hammered!

Aguero, Nastasic and possibly Silva are out though, so you never know -- we could yet keep it respectable at least.

It's a shit situation when we're going into a prem match hoping to only take a mild battering. :(

Yeah, how the fuck can this be the case for the team in fourth place? I'd understand if we were Cardiff or something but this is ridiculous. If we concede less than five I'll be astonished and we've got nothing at all going forward at the moment.

This is going to be miserable.

I'm usually a bit of a contrarian but can't help feeling that this may be set up for us to execute a little surprise, Betfair has us at 3.6 to win with City pretty much evens (I've had a cheeky tenner on us to win)

I don't think we are in form or any good at the moment but a win would be the kind of odd result footy turns up from time to time

Both are great! If you're in Bolivia see if there's a Bolivar v The Strongest derby game - great footy experience.

I'm not sure who I want to win today. I'd prefer Arsenal or Liverpool to win the title but, really, anyone by Mourinho!

I love Demichelis, bless him, from his time at Malaga. He's literally the best defender in the world for all but twice a match when he just gets a bit overexcited like he's had a bit too much fizzy pop before the game or he's recognised someone in the crowd.
