Jesus Christ.

lol imagine if after being top for longer than any other team, this was finally the year we end up 5th. Lose to City and at Goodison and we're in serious strife.

Hopefully Ramsey, Ozil and Kos can come back and set us straight.

Ridiculous.

I do wonder what would happen if we finished out of the top four but won the FA Cup. We really shouldn't struggle to attain a top four finish and win the cup, I just wonder what the "9 Years" brigade would then day

How have we ended up with such a shit squad? Has there ever been a point when we've had so few options? I mean, our first team is improved over the last couple of years, but we have literally no youths on the verge of coming through you'd have hope for except Gnabry.

It's fine spending £42m on Ozil, he's almost certainly worth it. But we really, really could have done with spending £15m on just "a few young-ish players" as well. How can they have Nathan Dyer, not great but fast and can cause errors, and we've got Kallstrom, who has a broken back?

Chelsea was a result based on a bunch of bad coincidences happening at the same time, but this is the sort of match that really tests a squad and that was a complete failure.

Properly rubbish.

In fairness we are without:

Ozil

Ramsey

Walcott

Wilshere

Koscielny

Diaby (lol)

So let's not start slitting our wrists too prematurely despite the current media narrative. Everton have plenty of difficult games to go too and we are six points clear.

EDIT - To Rev, I actually though Kallstrom looked like he might be a very useful player for us.

Considering how far ahead of 5th place we were only a few weeks ago and cup win or not, finishing outside the top 4 would be totally unacceptable.

I agree based on how we performed at the start of this season but we've been shit for weeks now. My point is that there are those that display "4th place isn't a trophy" banners, and whilst I agree with the sentiment I just know theyll change their tune if a trophy is finally delivered but we fuck up the league through losing 5 of our key players

He was fine and he was brought on when we were winning. But there wasn't a single player on the bench except Podolski who could bring anything different to the attack. For any team in the Premiership, let alone "title contenders", that's appalling.

4th place isn't a trophy, but 4th place ensures we attract a certain calibre of player. The best want to play in the Champions League, not in Norway on a Thursday night.

I've just arrived in Cusco in Peru after a 27-hour journey & am suffering the first effects of altitude sickness. Thought I'd cheer myself up by having a quick look at the scores to see how well we bounced back against Swansea &.... yeah, fuck that.

I'm here for a month but I don't think I want to keep up to speed with our late-season collapse at this rate. What the fuck is happening to us? Sure we have key players missing but this shouldn't be happening. The City game looks ominous now.

True, and Tottenham and Everton are both teams that are capable of dropping points without any help.

Still, a clear out is needed. We can't have ANY passengers in the squad. Kallstroms, bendtners, Diaby's (sorry), miyachi's have all gotta go. The young fellas Zelalem and Sanogo should go on loan.

I'm not calling panic stations, but we can't go to a champions League match bring short on the bench - it's a mistake indicative of an unbalanced squads. Kinda the thing you'd expect of a social 6 a side team.

Edit: obvs was a bit off topic. Guess I'm trying to say the balance of our squad isn't right which, along with injuries is responsible for our late season collapse.

You seem to be under the impression I'm saying its one or the other. For the record, I'm not.

My point is that we've consistently placed in that top four for all of Wengers time at Arsenal. For nearly a decade we've not had quite enough to clinch a trophy, either through poor decisions or because the near equalling factor that often happens in cup competitions. There are other reasons too, and theyre not always satisfactory, but that's football, and winning trophies isn't the privilege some Arsenal fans think it is.

I'm just interested to see how those particular fans will react if the above happens.

There's a nice Irish bar in Cusco that does some great food and shows all the footy games!

Hahaha.

We can get a draw with Everton, if you want?

This might sound odd but I genuinely hope they get fourth (and we win the title, obviously) just for the sake of the city. They play a lot better than they did under Moyes (funny that) and maybe there'd be less bitterness if they had Europe to look forward to.

Having said that, I'd gladly throw them under the bus if it meant we won the league.
