This is why they need a war-room. That is pathetic from Andre Mariner, a quick call to someone with a screen and the right player goes off.

Even though it was a calamitous decision, Gibbs is shit so I'd rather he go than The Ox. Gibbs will never ever ever ever contribute to anything positive, The Ox at least has a goal in him.

They're not favourites, by any stretch, but if Man Utd or Chelsea get lucky in the Champions Cup this could now very easily be us missing out on qualification.

How they can be so complacent against Chelsea I don't know. All credit to the ref for trying to steal the headlines, but I don't think even an error that big will manage it.

What the fuck is up with this team that we can't get up for 'the game of the season'?

It's strange. It almost seems like they need 15 minutes to get into the swing of things, and if you can catch them before that, they're fucked. Especially as any setback in that period is then magnified tenfold and scrambles their brains further.

Again, today we concede an early goal, and it ends in a complete capitulation, as another strong team senses blood in the water and Arsenal seem unwilling or unable to answer or adapt...

The fact is if giroud buried that chance a min before Eto this would be a different game. I'm a fan of girouds but it's becoming apparent that he doesn't turn up in the big games. also our team is so slow, we are so easy to play against.

Ox should have come off and not Podolski. He's not there today.

I think his head's probably fucked most of all, what with Gibbs having taken the fall for him. You can even see he's admitting it was him handballed it to Mariner on the replays.

Gabe, I think you've missed the point like a lot of us Gooners have over the years. We've been up there year after year for the whole of Wengers reign, held our own, more or less, against the incredible financial power of the competition, played amazing football, made money, overseen a new stadium and we're now set for a new era all under our own steam. We've got talent coming through, cash that we're willing to spend and play to full houses every week. Wenger has been the architect. The easy thing to have done was try someone else. Yes, a dry period in terms of trophies but I shudder to think where we might be without Wenger. He makes me mad sometimes but he's a true great. We'll be successful again. He might not be the one in the hotseat to get the glory but it'll be mostly down to him.

Have you been up there year-on-year in April, though, was my question? I honestly don't know, my memory is rubbish these days.

I certainly won't dispute any of your comments about what Wenger has done for the club, however the thing is you don't know that none of that stuff would have happened without him. Perhaps not in the same way, perhaps not at all, but perhaps it might have clicked and you'd have gone on as a club and won things. That said, the stadium would have happened regardless - as Dein says, you had 30,000+ on the waiting-list for season tickets so the demand has been there to make that viable.

With regards to spending, what is your net spend like compared to Man U over the last 9 years? I mean you talk about spending power (which is valid, of course) but Chelsea have only won the title twice and Man City so the money hasn't guaranteed success, and squads are always getting stronger across the board. Lest we not forget, you have billionaire major shareholders too, and I do believe if Wenger had asked for money to buy players, he would have got it.

I guess I disagree on your bolded comment - I think that the easiest thing to do with a manager that makes the club money and has had massive success previously is to stick with him in the hope that he'll come good again. A change takes courage, because you are going into the unknown and have to back that (in the modern game) with money and the conviction to say give your man time (see Moyes as an example).

As I say, I'm looking from the outside in and maybe I am missing the point.

Anyway, as for the game today - why didn't Flamini start? It's been an absolutely disgusting performance and if they fancy it, Chelsea could get any number of goals in the second half.

To be honest, it's a minor miracle we've stayed in the title race this long.

We were never in the race. It was mathematically possible and technically still is, but average teams do not win leagues. It's as simple as that.

not if Chelsea won it I don't think, I think it's just if Man Utd win it and finish outside top 4

I disagree - earlier on in the season, we looked like a good, exciting team. To say we were never in it is a bit much. Although I'll agree that since Jan, we've not looked like winning it.

Mind you, take Hazard out of Chelsea, Suarez out of Liverpool and Aguero/Yaya out of City and none of those teams will play as well as they could.
