can't think of a worse place to go away from home in your 1000th game in charge, or a worse manager to play, in terms of wanting to get a win. Mourinho will be super hyped to rain on the 'voyeurs' parade

that said can't think of a more perfect thing to do in your 1000th game than remove Mourinho's Chelsea home league unbeaten record

anybody see the Opta stat yesterday, 502 games since Wenger lifted a trophy !

Wish we had a Adams or Viera in the team firing everyone up just before kick off. Reminding them that they have to win this, if only for Wenger. I'm not sure we have anyone really like that in the dressing room now. You can be sure Mourinho is bursting a blood vessel telling his lot how much they need to be sticking it to us and rain on Wengers parade.

Nice BBC interview with Dein.

That is nice and, in the same way I felt a little sad when Fergie retired (even though I have no love for Man U), it'll be the same when Wenger goes too.

With that said, 9 years is far too long for any manager of a top team to be without a trophy. Has any manager - at the same club - ever had such a spell between major trophies? 96-05 was obviously amazing for you and so a season without a trophy would be disappointing, but you'd get over it. 2 seasons - you'd start to get a bit twitchy. 3 seasons - well, that's starting to look like a crisis, surely?

From the outside looking in, I sometimes wonder if part of the reason he has been kept for so long without success is because he always balances the books, because you'd think a board that shared the same ambition to win would get to a point - maybe after 5 years - of saying "We think you've been excellent, but it isn't working. We need to try something new."

Genuine question here, but in the last 9 seasons, in how many have you still been competitive in the league at the start of April?

I do like Wenger (I always chuckle when I think of his "Everybody thinks they have the prettiest wife," line), but even if you win the FA Cup this season that's still a poor return for not only this season, given where you were at the start of February, but also over too long a period.

Still hope you smash Chelsea today though.

Obv not an Arsenal fan, but congratulations to Wenger on 1000 games in charge. He can be incredibly sour and myopic, but I do love watching his teams play. You know they play the "right" way, and with the likes of Vieira you knew they had some right tough bastards in there as well. The goal that sums up what Wenger has brought to English football is

Two of the 90s greatest alcoholic carthorses, being given the freedom and confidence to do that.

I was just about to post something about how we needed to stop conceding early goals in games against the big teams, and then they scored again...

The players need to get a handle on this, very, very quickly, and get some control over the game, or this is going to look like the Liverpool game.

Congrats to him for the first 500. The less said about the last 500 the better.

Was Gibbs (Ox, ! commentator) deliberate hand ball as epic as the text commentary on Guardian made it sound?

It was going off target but I don't know what Ox was doing. He's a fucking idiot and we are down to 10 men because of his actions.
