Uefa got the refs on a mission to eliminate EPL teams from the competition?

We wouldn't be talking about it if Monreal hadn't stood there like a statue.

I'm worried this will have further enamoured Koscielny to Mr Guardiola. He's been superb again. Flamini and BFG poorly positioned for the second goal.

To be fair they were probably knackared. They were chasing shadows all night.

Yes, but we couldn't afford to be carrying people tonight. He should have been subbed much earlier.

He was knackered and tracking Robben isn't his forte, but would have been a huge risk using the final sub with over half an hour left to play. Don't understand why he didn't switch right after Rosicky came on though.

Worried about Sunderland now, they haven't played for a week and a lot of our guys will be utterly fucked after that

I'm more concerned with seeing how Arsenal come back from this in regards to performances outside the Champions League

I know from past seasons this is a real worry, but I really don't see anything to fuss about today. We were alright. Not great, perhaps not even good, but with 10 men being 1-0 down until a couple of minutes before the end is fine against a team like that.

Shrug. It could easily have been much worse.

Fucking hell, just got back from a packed pub watching that & I just feel completely deflated about it all. I don't mind being outplayed by the best team in the world but to lose in those kinds of circumstances, with a missed penalty in the first 10 minutes (wtf Özil?!), goalkeeper sent off, Gibbs off injured etc. is just fucking bullshit. I know it's completely pointless & stupid but I'm just left with a huge feeling of 'what if'? We were great in that first quarter of an hour, had Bayern rattled & you could feel the belief coursing through the team. I never really expected us to get a result & was expecting the worst, but when you have hope dangled in front of your eyes & then snatched away almost immediately like that, it's horrible. Fucking football.

All told though, I thought we did alright in the circumstances & shouldn't feel too bad about our performance. I'm in agreement about having some concern with players being absolutely knackered now though. Hopefully we'll be alright & take the disappointment out on Sunderland at the weekend.

the stage was so perfectly set, the ground was pretty hyped up before the match and despite some calling it a failure the card thing looked amazing (we were side on to the crest so couldn't see the gun hadn't formed)

Sanogo was a shock but in the minutes leading up the penalty he was involved in everything and you could really sense we had them rattled, it was like the start against Napoli, then Ozil strolled up to the pen with less intent than most would have in the garden taking one and you could feel the whole ground & team deflate. That was the moment the tie was lost, everything after was inevitable.

Can't fathom what Ozil has to do to get subbed, Cazorla was a real live wire and ratting everywhere and did not deserve to get the hook ahead of Ozil.

Special mention to the Bayern away fan conductor (dressed in a black polo shirt) he barely ever turned to face the pitch even if Bayern were attacking and literally conducted their fans and lead them in songs and arm waving for the whole match, I've never seen anything like it.

it was brilliant to see, they would be a bit quiet then you'd see him start some 'I am sailing' arm waving then a huge song would go up right beneath us

imagine travelling all that way and not watching any of the game, its kind of cool but insane at the same time, like he sees himself as part of the staff and not a fan.

Don't really understand this. As soon as Gibbs went off they started targeting that flank, often putting three guys on Monreal & Cazorla. However bad you think Ozil is defensively, Cazorla is way worse. He's too slow to run with people and was basically offering no help at all. That change made perfect sense in the circumstances. Also up until that point Ozil hadn't been playing badly at all (awful penalty aside).

I thought Ozil was rubbish. Tried too hard and kept running down blind alleys.

I'm still angry at his penalty (I know I'm probably being irrational). I've got no problem with players missing them, but at least take it with some conviction. It was like he didn't want to even kick the ball and by the time he did, he was on top of it. Completely bottled it.

I'd have had The Ox take it. Has great striking technique and is brave. Who knows what could have been.

We must have been watching different games as he had a reasonably sharp first 10 mins but he was totally out the game after the penalty miss. He had another poor game and we couldn't afford to be carrying him when we had 11 men on the pitch, never mind 10.

I don't know what his problem is, but he seems very low on confidence and his work rate is appalling.

I am also angry. It was an inexcusably shit effort.

His first ten minutes were good then his head went with that peno miss and a few very simple passes went to ze Germans from ze other team. His work rate though, if you define it as distance coveted Steve, was 2nd only to Flamini.

Kid needs a rest though I say.
