Nice eye for a pass, always slow though even when he was young so fuck knows how bad it is now.

We're such a slow team, surprised we don't get hit on the break more than we do tbh. Besides Kos, Gibbs, Ox and the odd burst from Ozil, the whole side we have now is sloooow

I bet Wenger loves a tower defence game.

I still think he'll be a good player if his knees stop exploding. He's the kind of player that can still be performing his current role years from now so he's got ages to get a good run of fitness together, develop and come good.

Which is good, as he's ace. Wish Wednesday had signed him rather than Barnsley!

Can't believe that wenger is happy to continue the season with the squad we have. Everyone can see we need a striker. I wasn't expecting a worldie, but someone that could do a job.

Who? Need to be significantly better than Bendter and ideally capable of challenging Giroud, and willing to go on loan for 6 months. Klose would have been nice for instance but realistically why would he want to do it? If he likes Rome then what's in it for him?

People losing their shit on twitter after Ornstein tweeted the board were willing to pay £37m for Draxler but Wenger vetoed it. Bizarre from the press dept to brief people with that info because it's clearly going to rile the retards up. It's consistent with previous statements though: they'll back the manager with money if he wants it, but clearly he (quite rightly IMO) doesn't want to spunk that sum (higher than Man City have ever paid for anyone, don't forget) on an essentially unproven 20-year-old. A lot of talk they wanted the whole lot up front too to deal in Jan, which is eye watering.

It is a hell of a lot of money. I dare say you'll miss out on him now as City or Chelsea's midfield will be in desperate need of improvement come the summer, but £37m is ridiculous really. I figured that was Schalke's asking price, then you negotiate a bit, so on and son, and you get the guy for £26m or whatever.

Meanwhile Chelsea sign Zouma for £12m when he's apparently going to be good enough to be their rock at the back for the next decade or so. Football transfers... who knows.

Can't quite get my head around what has happened to Frimpong. Over the last 3 years, whenever I saw him in pre-season matches and in actual first team games (between major injuries) he looked a beast.

The fact that no one else wanted him apart from Barnsley pretty much speaks for itself I guess. Shame, I had really high hopes for him.

At least we have someone who can take a good free kick now.

Are you saying Bacary Sagna has been relieved of these duties, whilst Cazorla, Arteta and Ozil watch on

It does feel like a missed opportunity in this window, the league may not be as open for a while as it this season and to spend a bit over the odds on a player or two who could help you push on seems short sighted.

As has been said expect to see lots of players limp off tomorrow with the infamous 2-3 weeks muscle injury - never to be seen again this season

Surely it's more long-sighted? Buying players for immediate success without worrying about the cost or the future of the team is short-sighted.

its short sighted to miss out on players you really want is my point, I'm not arguing we should sign any old tat just to get bodies in

if we really want Draxler then unless we are so far apart on valuation its impossible just pay up and do a deal now, an extra few million euro is neither here nor there to us at the moment

Really seems like we were in for a midfielder and a striker on loan this window, and that when it became clear we couldn't get Draxler we decided on a stop gap. I guess that's good long term as hopefully we'll go back in for Draxler in the summer. I do think not getting a striker might come back to bite us if Giroud picks up an injury.

Shame about Fringing, he seemed pretty decent from what I saw. Cannot understand why Song and Denilson were good enough, but he wasn't. Must be something more to it.

Surprised Coquelin has not been mentioned, he's only on loan right?

From the BBC..

"New Arsenal signing Kim Kallstom is set for a spell on the sidelines with a back injury that was discovered in the medical before he signed on loan from Spartak Moscow.

"The 31-year-old Sweden midfielder sustained the problem on Tuesday while playing football on a beach during Spartak's pre-season tour in Abu Dhabi.

"He informed Arsenal of discomfort upon arriving at the club on Friday but, despite an MRI scan showing no damage, a CT scan found an issue with his back.

"The Arsenal medical team provided manager Arsene Wenger with the prognosis, but it was decided Kallstrom would still join and undergo his rehabilitation with the Gunners.

"He is expected to miss at least Arsenal's next six games, in which they face Crystal Palace, Liverpool twice, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Sunderland.

"Kallstrom did not train with his new team-mates on Friday or Saturday and will briefly return to Sweden and Russia before moving to London and beginning a course of treatment.

"The former Lyon player, Arsenal's only signing in the January transfer window, joined on loan until the end of the season to provide cover for injured midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, plus the suspended Mathieu Flamini."
