A top striker scores that Giroud chance sadly. Terrible conditions out there which didn't help the only side trying to play football.

I see Mourinho is doing his post match trolling thing again, so now all his sycophantic press minions will be writing about how Arsenal "cry like girls" re: that poor tackle from Mikel, rather than condemning the challenge.

Two points from 9 isn't great at all but hey, we're in the mix. We can win the next two and be top at halfway, although we'll need to step it up for sure.

The second one? I don't think he could have done anything else really. He got to the one place where Gibbs could put the ball and got it on target - Cech and a defender where on top of him right away.

Frustrating night all in. Ramsey had a 'mare and I can't believe Wenger didn't bring anyone off the bench - Cazorla, Podolski just to change things a bit. Thought Szczesny had a fine match and held onto everything, Vermalen looked solid and the full backs did a good job. Referee was poor and let too much go in the first half, penalty was nailed on.

2 points from 9 is harsh but being off the top on goal difference alone at Christmas is good enough for me.

I see Mourinho's back to his shit on a stick best. His team selection plus the conditions made it very hard for us. Could not believe he pulled off Hazard, who looked by far their best chance at getting a goal. Agree that someone like Van Persie would have buried one of those 2 chances Giroud had.

Well a draw was as bad as a loss for me. I think City have their tails up, along with Liverpool and at this minute, I'm worried how long it's going to take for us to pick ourselves up again. We're so brittle psychologically. Which is why I knew the Napoli game was so vital for this run of tough games.

Absolutely. He looked much more like the Santi of old today, which is a good sign. Fantastic to see Podolski score on his return, too. Pretty poor performance for the first hour or so & we could've quite easily been two down, but once we equalised I had every confidence we'd go on to win the game comfortably. Hope Ramsey's injury isn't too serious but his level's dropped (from an admittedly absurdly high level) in the last few weeks, he hasn't seemed quite as sharp & he was frequently giving away possession again today, so perhaps an enforced rest will do him some good.

Until a trip to Anfield on the 8th of February our league fixtures are:

Newcastle (A)

Cardiff (H)

Villa (A)

Fulham (H)

Southampton (A)

Palace (H)

We should be looking at maximum points from that lot, imo. Newcastle away is definitely tricky, but for a title-winning push we're gonna have to put these teams away, because I can't see City slipping up too much from here.

Something thats been pissing me off in recent weeks, and I know we all know its bullshit, is the pundits stating Arsenal have to beat the big teams to be taken seriously as title contenders, despite them all saying that the 3 looking likely to be challenging this season being Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool with us fighting it out with Man Utd for 4th.

So I worked it all out based on whats happened so far, using the seven teams that were pretty much predicted to be the ones fighting for Champions League spots and got the following...

Obviously Man City's home form is ridiculous and if they're to continue to be favourites then they really do need to sort their away form out, the only game they lost was the only away game they've had against that lot, our game in hand over Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton has arguably helped us there although 2 of these supposedly "key" fixtures have been during this ridiculously packed December period. I may be reading those stats wrong but I think it shows that once again the pundits are talking utter bollocks, and thats without taking that lot over on MOTD into account. It's not who you beat, its how many points you have at the end of the season that matters and at this point in time we're leading the table and aside from last week, had been doing so for quite some time.
