How would you get there? I'm driving and can take you but depends where you're leaving from.

edit: 12.45 kick off btw, ticket is £58

(fucking lol at those Man City fans who kicked up a massive fuss about how much we charged them last season. Get your own house in order you twats, with your billionaire sugar daddy and publicly funded stadium)

I live in Sheff so it's just one quick train and a tram ride there. I've purposefully avoided City away because of ticket cost and have avoided games since I was at Villa at home, fearing I'm an bad omen on the team.

Having said all that, happy to ignore that bullshit if I'm free; just gotta double-check with the missus that I'm free and with my bank to double check that I can manage the ticket, plus the obvious trip to Almost Famous.

Word is that Sagna might not be back for Man City, which is a bit of a blow. That said we played in this game with Jenkinson and Ramsey on the right flank and both had good games.

If Sagna doesn't make it then I don't think there's any chance of Theo starting, which is a pity as left-back is an obvious weak spot for Man City. Without Sagna, I think we will probably line up as:

----------------Szczesny--------------

Jenkinson--Mertesacker---Koscielny--Gibbs

-----------Flamini----Arteta------------

----Ramsey-----Ozil-----Cazorla-----

-----------------Giroud----------------

I'm unsure about the double pivot of Arteta and Flamini. We were excellent against Napoli at home, but every other time we've used it we've looked a bit lacklustre. The above XI is certainly less ambitious than I'd like, but with no Sagna that's how I see it going. Fingers crossed he makes it and we can start Theo instead to try and target Clichy/Kolarov who both certainly have a gaffe in them.

As for tomorrow, it looks like we'll definitely have Jenks in, which again I think rules out Theo starting really. Personally I think that despite his current deficiencies, Jenkinson is fine when he gets a run of games. However opposing teams will try and target him and he needs decent help from his wide forward, which certainly isn't Walcott's strong point.

I thought Jenkinson looked unconvincing, he was definitely targeted by Everton who had a good deal of joy down our right flank in the opening thirty minutes. I know he needs games but ideally not in the fixtures we got coming up.

Well Napoli's full backs did absolutely nothing in the first game apart from get repeatedly bummed by us, so hopefully we'll be ok there.

As for Man City, he won't be up against a left winger as such, since Nasri will operate more as an anterior player like Cazorla does for us. Clichy/Kolarov also don't have the attacking threat that Oviedo did. Hopefully if he gets good support he'll be ok. I'm pretty sure he was excellent in the same fixture last season.

edit: No Hamsik for Napoli tomorrow, I know he did fuck all in the first game but that's still pretty big

City did well to come back, credit to them, but Bayern weren't really at the races. Tbh I'd be worried about a Bayern bid for Koscielny next summer, as their centre backs aren't really up to the standard of the rest of the squad.

Also the 'Plucky underdogs' narrative for £500m City is pretty hilarious.

Anyways I think we'll be ok; Negredo and Aguero haven't played against a defence as good as ours this season, there are gaps in their midfield to exploit, and their defence isn't the greatest either. The only thing I really worry about is the respective freshness of the teams, but as long as we're ok for energy levels I see no reason why we'll get humped.

On the flipside, have our defence played against a side with the attacking potential of Man City? They're a weird team this season, though, they'll have an amazing result and then follow it up with a shocking performance against someone in the bottom three and lose. It's honestly impossible to call because we have no idea which Man City will turn up.

They've played Mandzukic-Robben-Muller, Reus-Mkhitaryan-Lewandowski and Suarez-Sturridge and conceded a grand total of two goals, one of which was gift wrapped on a plate after a bad mistake from Ramsey.

Surely there's some sort of role he could fill. Maybe not now but one day.

If what he said is true, the deal was done to Real the season before he left but he changed his mind. He said he wanted to end his career with us but once we accepted Juve's offer he left.

Either way, he's an absolute legend.

I miss the days of him v Keane.

I'm unsure how we'll approach the game. I think it's sensible to rest a couple of players (Ramsey, Arteta and Ozil being the obvious ones that could use a break), but no more than that. Monreal could play too I guess and tbh he probably deserves a run in the side as Gibbs' form has tailed off a bit recently. It will be interesting to see if Arsene sets the team up more conservatively, or if he starts Walcott and looks to hit them on the break.

The main thing is we don't want to concede an early goal because in a hostile atmosphere things could get very nervy.
