Ozil had the virus too apparently. Not sure who else. Mind you Arteta had it and he was probably our best player, so it probably can't totally explain Ozil's subdued performance. Sagna, Koscielny and Vermaelen had decent games. Szczesny didn't have much to do. Everyone else was terrible.

I think this should probably spell the end for the Flamini-Arteta axis too, at least as long as Ramsey is in such good form. We've used it vs Napoli, West Brom and Man Utd, as well as briefly vs Norwich and Palace before Flamini went off in both games. Napoli was great and it worked well, but every other time we've used it and shunted Ramsey out wide we've looked rather poor.

edit: also liked the "blah blah blah zonal marking" 'analysis' of the goal. If it's so bad then how come that's the first corner we've conceded from all season?

We've got Podolski, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, etc, but they're all injured. That's just unlucky.

How many forwards(ish) should you have? Seven? What if six are injured? Thirty? You're never going to have "enough" if injuries all pile up at once as they tend to do at Arsenal.

Podolski is injured 99.9% of the time, Walcott is not a forward however much he thinks he should be, The Ox is a wide player (although I think he does a decent job in the middle) and there's Bendtner who's a fucking disgrace. We need a forward.

There are rumours that Real are touting Benzema around for sale, so he might be an option for you guys. Also, someone told me you were interested in Hernandez. I'd be sad to see him leave United but a player of his quality should be playing regularly, and he'd see off Giroud for the starting spot, I reckon. If you got him you'd be in with a very good chance of winning the league, so United would probably block it.

Remy is a good player but he's not really going to be available unless QPR cancel his loan. Also yeah, he could end up in jail so no one is going to buy him at this point. Besides, I'm not sure he's good enough to want to take him permanently. We should be looking for someone better than that if we have to wait till the summer.

edit: absolutely no chance of Man Utd selling us Hernandez, don't be daft

Maybe if you hadn't started so well. :)

Still, I get the feeling United will be looking to clear out four or five players and Hernandez might well be one. I wouldn't be upset to see him playing for you, as I prefer to see good players playing first team football rather than languishing in the reserves.

I hate how any time players do anything other than strictly follow the predefined lines their media training tells them they are instantly quoted out of context as newspapers attempt to make a story. It seems you either have extremes like Joey Barton or Assou Ekoto or completely bland as a result.

Arsenal are back \o/

Walcott is fit again which is pretty great news. I've been fairly down on him to say the least, and god knows he can be frustrating as hell, but he does seem to be improving his technique in certain areas (most notably his first touch), and hopefully we'll get more out of Ozil with someone looking to run in behind.

It seems the chatter is Theo will start on the bench. Obviously that could be bollocks, but then Gnabry didn't play for the U21s the other night which could indicate he's starting. Rosicky has been unwell. Wenger said he'd have a fitness test on Saturday but he could well miss out. Flamini is suspended but tbh I wouldn't really want him in there anyway for this game.

I think I'd like to see:

----------------Szczesny--------------

Sagna--Mertesacker---Koscielny--Gibbs

-----------Ramsey----Arteta------------

-----Gnabry-----Ozil-----Cazorla-----

-----------------Giroud----------------

Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Monreal, Rosicky, Wilshere, Walcott, Bendtner

I know Vermaelen did alright against Utd, and you want to keep him motivated by showing him that he can get games if he comes in and does well, but I'd be more inclined to start him vs Marseilles to be honest.

Our wide, pacey attacking players beginning to come back into the fold is great news. It was an under-par performance in general, but against United especially we were far too predictable & easy to shut down in central positions.

They're obviously the story of the season right now, but I've only seen Southampton in highlights so far. It's gonna be interesting to have a good look at them.
