Ozil's offside nearly gave me a heart attack. What a great performance though. which more than makes up for the home defeat. Santi was looking increasingly dangerous before he came off, but it was the right change. Maybe Monreal will start a match one day!

Mertesacker was immense last night. Areta was great, especially after an early yellow. And who can not love Giroud? Even when his shit isn't totally together he's so fantastically willing and the subtle little header for the goal was dreamy. As was the cross. Ozil was a bit rubbish but when you only get one real chance to make the difference, and you take that chance, that's the sign of quality.

See I don't think Ozil was rubbish at all. He's a playmaker who thrives on clever throughballs but who does he have to pass to at the moment? Everyone in the side right now wants it played into feet. When Theo/Poldi/Ox are back and he has some runners in front of him again, you'll start to see more telling contributions from Ozil. Just look at how many times he put Walcott through on goal in his debut vs Sunderland.

Also don't underestimate the shift he's put in recently: look at him chasing right back to defend when he sees Mertesacker is out of position after the diving header (which he really should have scored btw). That's the great thing about this team: everyone works really hard for each other, from front to back, which is something sorely lacking in recent Wenger sides.

Never thought I'd say this about Arsenal but we are getting so efficient, apparently we've had the least shots of any team in the CL so far this season.

After years of over playing and spurning chances its a sudden transformation, just hope we can keep it up as if you get wasteful again gives you an obvious problem.

Obviously we've talked about the nasty run of games we're in currently (Dortmund (H), Liverpool (H), Dortmund (A), Man Utd (A), Soton (H)), and the other run we've got coming up in December (Everton (H), Napoli (A), Man City (A), Chelsea (H)), but has anyone noticed our March fixtures? They're also rather grim: Swansea (H), FA Cup QF, CL last 16, Spurs (A), Chelsea (A), Man City (H).

I wouldn't be surprised to see Flamini come straight back into the side on Sunday, if passed fit. Obviously the double-pivot with Arteta provides more solidity, and you've gotta think Rosicky will be quite tired after putting in some serious shifts in recent games (thought he was great last night btw).

I'd go with:

----------------Szczesny--------------

Sagna--Mertesacker---Koscielny--Gibbs

-----------Flamini----Arteta------------

-----Ramsey-----Ozil-----Cazorla-----

-----------------Giroud----------------

Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Monreal, Wilshere (?), Rosicky, Walcott (?), Bendtner.

Gnabry and Jenkinson the obvious options if Jack or Theo don't make it.

Anyone need some firing up for Sunday?

The penalty is obviously bullshit, but that's nothing compared to Ferdinand not getting sent off for taking Ljungberg out when he's through on goal.

Bet you still got some pleasure out of Ashley Cole getting done!

One of the more memorable Secret Footballer quotes:

'If you meet a footballer and he comes across as a rude, arrogant prick, the chances are that he is simply trying not to give anything away. Either that, or you have bumped into Ashley Cole.'

It's not his fault he's got steak at home but just fucking loves cheap burgers. Also his steak seems pretty annoying.

I dunno, he might be a massive cunt. Obviously he's done some cunt stuff, but who hasn't? All I know from guys who've spent time with him is that they say he's alright.

Mate I met Jimmy Saville once in Roundhay Pizza in Leeds. Shook his hand, shared a joke and everything - generally seemed like a stand-up guy.

Do you see what I am getting at?

Ashley Cole may seem like a nice guy to you but you are a record breaking paedophile.

Pffft Van Persie is way worse than Cole when it comes relations with Arsenal.

It's not good behaviour but ultimately I don't give a shit about Cashley dicking around on his wife, and his "nearly swerved off the road" anecdote in his book is unintentionally hilarious.

Besides, the thing that caused that was Dein messing him about on his new contract, and he was right to feel aggrieved at the principle of it (even if the way he put his side across showed a comical lack of self-awareness). And ultimately he's been totally vindicated in his desire to leave for Chelsea.

It's true, people get angry at footballers for the money they earn but it's all relative. If Cole was getting £30k and his less-good team-mates £60k (I don't remember the fugures shut up) then he's going to be annoyed.

Also, who'd want to be a footballer, anyway? They spend half their time bored and end up gambling and stuff. (I want to be a footballer more than anything)

Fox you have gone mad and are just saying things you can't possibly mean.

RVP stitched up the club to get his own way.

Ashley Cole is an awful, ungrateful, arrogent, selfish, spiteful moral vacuum even discounting his history with the club.

I guess I'm not enough of an expert on Cole's conduct. I know about the infidelity but don't really know the details as I don't read Heat and simply don't care. I know about the air rifle thing. Dick move for sure but not sure it means he's Satan incarnate. What else has he done? Honest question.
