Shearer, Hansen etc are being asked if we CAN win the title, not if we WILL win it. Fair enough if you still think Chelsea/City will win, but to repeatedly say there's absolutely no chance Arsenal can do it, even though we're by far the best team of 2013 and are top by 5pts, just seems ignorant and disrespectful, which I think is why it's annoyed Gooners.

I think November is obviously going to have a big say in things for you guys, and if you come through it unscathed then I'm sure opinions will change.

Why would Shearer and Hansen have a chip on their shoulder about Arsenal though? Hansen won enough as it is and Shearer... I don't know. Arsenal beat Newcastle in an FA Cup Final didn't they? Surely not enough for him to hold a massive grudge I'd have thought. I'd just put it down to them being knobs, especially Shearer, rather than having it in for Arsenal as such.

I'd just enjoy being ignored somewhat if I was you. Everyone expecting you to win the league brings with it a bit of extra pressure you can live without.

It doesn't really matter what people think. Yeah they're being a bit wanky writing us off but I can understand someone thinking Chelsea are still favourites.

I'm just enjoying being top, getting a bit scared though when I start to think we could actually win it.

It's still very very early. Chelsea are the big danger for me, City are of course very strong and I suppose we shouldn't discount Utd altogether but I think it's fair to say that without Fergie it's kind of unlikely that they can turn their dodgy form around enough to win the league.

Let's see what the table looks like after Christmas and after the window, If we're in the race after January then why not Arsenal?

Like I said, at the start they were all predicting for us to struggle. Spurs spent loads of money, we'd spent zilch, and when we lost to Villa I think they were very happy as it looked like they were going to be proved right. Then Ozil wasn't what we needed because we already had loads of creative midfielders (wrong) and had no good centre backs or holding players (wrong again).

They just don't like being shown up for the idiots they are, basically. FWIW I'm still sticking with my pre-season prediction of 3rd, but to write our chances off completely is just daft.

Probably gonna have to be the same team for Dortmund as for Liverpool I think, apart from a forced change at left back. Don't really have any other options and the bench will be weak as fuck.

----------------Szczesny--------------

Sagna--Mertesacker---Koscielny--Monreal

-----------Ramsey----Arteta------------

-----Rosicky-----Ozil-----Cazorla-----

-----------------Giroud----------------

I guess there's a chance Gnabry could be back but I don't think he'll start, and Wilshere and Gibbs are both out I think. Could both return for Man Utd though, along with Flamini and Walcott, so hopefully the bench will be much stronger for that game and we'll have the option of some attacking width again.

Utd are only 3 points behind Chelsea in 2nd. Not bad considering their worst start in 26 years...

Of course you are correct but I'd rather a dodgy Utd without Fergie than a dodgy Utd with Fergie.

As I've said it's very very early. Too early.

For me Chelsea are the favourites but we'll know a lot more come end of January.

I would love it if we win it though, love it.

Really hope Flamini and Walcott are available for United away. Flamini starting would allow Ramsey to be freed up for a more attacking role like the Napoli match, with Theo off the bench if we need to stretch the game or get some runs in behind. I gather Utd have some injury issues at full back too so we could have some joy there.

Gibbs and Gnabry both trained today. I guess Gibbs will start against Dortmund if he's ok, but if there's any risk at all of a flare up then I'm sure Monreal will come in and do fine. Can't see Gnabry starting but he's a nice option to have off the bench late on, when Dortmund will hopefully tire a bit.

edit: Walcott not back until Southampton :(

Dortmund replace the hamstrung Mats Hummels with Sokratis Papastathopoulos: Weidenfeller, Grosskreutz, Papastathopoulos, Subotic, Schmelzer, Sahin, Bender, Blaszczykowski, Mkhitaryan, Reus, Lewandowski.

Subs: Langerak, Kehl, Hofmann, Aubameyang, Kirch, Schieber, Durm.

Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs recovers from a hip problem to start: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Arteta, Cazorla, Ozil, Rosicky, Giroud.

Subs: Fabianski, Vermaelen, Monreal, Bendtner, Jenkinson, Gnabry, Hayden.

So well matched. Even though I think we edge it on paper, they've got Lewa and home advantage. Too close too call.

edit: they've got good central midfield and forward options from the bench too.

Tim Arstall: Tonight could offer an impression of Arsenal's potential title challenge. They need to step up against the world's best clubs.

Since when has performance in Europe meant anything on the fucking domestic scene?
