All fair points of course but talking / shouting is important. Especially if you're a CB or CM, keeper even, with a better view on the game than say a wide player for example.

I agree he's more in your face than most so he stands out more but our team could do with a leader / shouter even if it's just to keep everyone that little bit more switched on. If it gets an extra 5% urgency from everyone it's got to be a good thing.

It seems Wigan are interested in taking Park on loan but they can't afford his £3million per year salary (just under £60k per week) even though we will be chipping in.

Someone tell me this is bollocks and he surely isn't on £3million per year.

Possibly. There's not a chance he's on anything like £60k a week though; I'd be surprised if it was much more than half that amount tbh.

On what basis do you think there's not a chance?

Denilson was reportedly on that much and as we know for a long time players were getting broadly similar wages.

Anyway back in the saddle tomorrow. We now have some genuine options in midfield, which is great. Obviously we've got Dortmund next week so it's tempting to rest people, but on reflection I don't think we should go overboard with that. I'd be inclined to go for something like:

Szczesny - Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs - Flamini, Ramsey - Rosicky, Ozil, Cazorla - Giroud

Subs: Fabianski, Sagna, Koscielny, Monreal, Arteta, Wilshere, Bendtner

Assuming no other tactical swap is needed then change Wilshere, Arteta and Bendtner for Cazorla, Ozil and Giroud, ideally having built up a healthy lead first!

I dunno. Pure speculation, but a lot of people hold the theory that he was signed mainly to increase sales in Asia, right? His agent would have been aware of that and you'd think it'd help him secure a better contract.

I really tire of this shit every time a club signs a player from Asia. It's borderline racist.

EDIT: Actually, if Hodgson's joke is racist then this is DEFINITELY racist ;)
