I guess Arshavin will be in there. I assume he's still kicking around somewhere? It'd make sense to have Gervinho and Giroud in there since they've got plenty of experience in France. I'd guess Walcott will be the third front player, although seems to have had a massive fall from grace since his contract-based fun. But if he's in, Arshavin behind them replacing Cazorla.

Personally I wouldn't start resting too many players yet. We have a few new players, still need to get the team properly bedded down and we don't play again until Sunday.

I'd change the goalie obviously and maybe the Ox but other than that play the same team.

Also Rev, no Arshavin in the squad. Left out for Diaby.

I still think City have got to be massive favourites (although they probably need to stop messing around with their back line) but I do really, really like our first 11. Especially if Giroud can start chipping in or Gervinho really grabs hold of the central position. I am leaning towards the logic that the lack of a total focus on RVP might be a benefit and I just love not having Song in the middle.

But, as always, it'll come down to injuries.

Maybe a stick a fifty on instead?

EDIT: Too late for that last point. But take heart from the rest of it!

And we might be able to recall Bendtner in January, I guess? If so, money: Secured.

In the cold light and with an evening hangover I still don't think it's the worst bet I've ever made (full disclosure: I've made some terrible bets). Cazorla and Podolski have hit the ground running, Diaby's back and looking great, Gervinho seems to have found an edge, defensively we look solid and we've Wilshere and Rosicky back shortly, you hope. If injuries are kind to us for once we're at least in with a shout I reckon. 12/1 sure looked pretty after a bottle of white. Look, I'm an idiot alright.

Exactly so, as it is our odds have dropped significantly since the start of the season, I'm sure I saw us at around 20/1 at one point. If we wait till after the City and Chelsea games, on the assumption we do well in those two games (we beat them both away last season - and I don't think either are playing brilliantly at the moment) our odds will drop even further. In mitigation I was being goaded by a particularly annoying pair of Chelsea supporters I work with.

Edit: my bad, we beat City at home and narrowly lost away last season.

Yeah, Bould should totally dress up to the nines. It won't suit him, he'll just look like a lankier Harold Shand but that's a good thing. A barely restrained seething mass of defensive rage contained within the confines of an ill-fitting 3-piece. The dudes in the other dugout will shit themselves in terror and their fear will be communicated to the opposing team.
