People have to ask why Usmanov would want to take over? Why do any of these rich people want to own a football club?

Vanity? Money laundering? Something fun to do with their money? An investment (lol)?

Of course, trust us to find the tightest billionaire in the world in Kroenke. But what's in it for them? Some think people like the Glazers bought Man Utd in the hope that a European super league was coming, which would, in theory, increase the value of TV rights and their investment. In the meantime of course they can milk them for all their worth and get the club to pay off their debt.

I would not be at all surprised to see Kroenke flip his whole shareholding over to Usmanov in a year or two once the commercial deals renew and the stadium is a little closer to being completely paid off, all for a tidy profit. Arsenal are (or were) an undervalued asset. New stadium, huge support, cash rich, top manager, well run (financially anyway).

Things also depend on how "real" FFP is.

Personally I think fans should own their football clubs like in Germany but I think we might be past that point in England.

I am getting more and more of a horrible feeling that Kroenke is going to sell Arsenal once the sponsorship deals are renegotiated in 2014.

I do think we are a stronger squad this year but after such a good start I really felt we could have done more. It's a worry to me that Arshavin and Chamakh are both almost first choice subs in positions where the players ahead of them are either new to the league in Giroud and Podolski or yet to really prove themselves in Gervinho and Walcott. Surely we could have found someone.

The defence we can cover and the centre of the park we can botch, but going forward we are leaving a hell of a lot in the lap of the gods.

Oh and Walcott's contract situation is ridiculous - he plays well and he'll have us over a barrel, he plays badly and he leaves on a Bosman - in fact he'll probably leave on a Bosman anyway. Get him out.

I'm totally convinced Kroenke will sell for a fat profit in a couple of years or so once sponsorships, naming rights etc are renewed at much higher levels than now & the debt is all but paid off thus of course sending the value of the club through the roof. The same club which consistently makes a profit in the transfer market, qualifies and gets to the latter stages of the CL every season, is as good as sold out at every home game & earns a fortune from merchandise.

The team not winning a trophy for a number of years is having no affect on the value of the club.

All shit and meaningless stuff when you are a fan of one of the biggest clubs in the world and just want your team to sometimes be able to hold onto their best players, occasionally sign the odd top player and win the odd shiny silvery thing.

Read earlier that we've had forty shots in two games, five on target. I think I'm right with those stats. Anyway, I can't really imagine us scoring at all right now, sadly, and I don't know if something just needs to click or we need a massive rethink. We should be smashing teams out of sight but over the past five years we've struggled to do that on anything like a consistent basis. We should have goals coming out of our butts. Cazorla looks most likely but the last thing we need is to become dependant on him for fucking everything. I also wonder if Arteta is being used to full potential. The midfield balance is out of whack to me.

I dunno, I think our midfield balance is alright. Goals will come, we just have to give it time. Though I must admit we need to score Tomo as chances will be created. We look like a very strong side with alot of talent and goal scoring potential. I believe we will shock alot of ppl and win Well 1-3 to us Tomo, giroud, Podolski and Walcott tomo

I think with Arteta, Cazorla and Diaby there should be more to and fro, more holding and going in rotation to mix things up. Seems that the majority is going through Cazorla when all three are more than capable. We look predictable. Goals will come but we've dropped four points that looking back we should have in the bank. Early doors but if we lose tomorrow then it's two from nine and that's pretty shitty.

It does seem like Diaby and Arteta were sitting back a little too much when they could easily bring something a little different to the table if they push forward. Early on against Sunderland they were really struggling to contain Diaby when he strode at them with the ball (I'd like to say ran at them, but he has that sort of power-walk run that Vieira had  ), I'd also like to see more shots from outside the box (Arteta's got a good shot on him from what I remember? and I hear Cazorla is pretty good from range too?)

Which also brings up, who takes our free-kicks and corners now that van Persie isn't around to take his so-called "Specials" (and how the fuck did he get that reputation, more often than not it went over or hit the wall...)

Bendtner (which my phone now auto-corrects for me) news:

Del Piero’s Number 10 jersey had been reserved for the ‘top player,’ but Nicklas Bendtner has not been considered worthy of that honour.

The ex-Arsenal striker has been handed the Number 17 shirt for this season, once worn by David Trezeguet.

Curiously, the number 17 is considered to be unlucky in Italy.

Bless 'im.

Midfield looking good - but Giroud, 0% passing completion and another howler

I got some grief for saying he looked a donkey in pre season but I'm now firming up my view, he's a clown and won't get 10 all season

He's had no service, to be fair to him. Bar the Diaby pass, which he should have done better with, he's been left with scraps after we keep overhitting any cross in to him.
