I would be very surprised if we signed another striker. We only play with one centre forward and I think Giroud and Podolski are competing for that.

Podolski plays out left though. I don't think I've ever seen him down the middle. He'll be most likely sharing time with Gervinho I reckon.

We won't buy anyone though, I'm sure. I think Sahin on loan could happen but that's it for actual money signings with another bumper profit on the cards looking likely. We're all looking at it from the point of view of what we need to do to win the league, where as I think the club are simply concerned with maintaining that top four finish. What we've done so far would probably be enough to achieve that but a title challenge is pretty far-fetched in my opinion.

I thought Wenger said Giroud and Podolski were not replacements for Van Persie? I know he says a lot of things, but that fact that Podolski can play wide might suggest otherwise. I would actually not be disappointed if we spent the money elsewhere in the team to be honest.

Telegraph reporting is saying that its £15m up front plus addons which can rise to £22m - thats generally how Manchester United do deals these days so I wouldn't be surprised at all if its structured in some way like that.

I feel for Wenger. Putting up with these shitcunts year after year. Nurturing them, putting up with endless injuries and average, below par seasons. Then finally they deliver and it's "see you boss, thanks for everything." He's the one we will really miss and I feel he's been betrayed again.

Correct. He's been fucked over time and again. Loyal and publicly supportive, ridiculed and mocked. He's been let down from every angle. I think he's been mentally strong and continually impressive since he joined the Club. We've had our moans but he just gets on with it. Please God another title, at least, for him.

Podolski will get games through the middle alternating with giroud. We still have alot of talent up front so don't need to spend mega bucks on a striker, we could do with a utility player and a ball winning midfielder really, esp is Song goes aswell. 24mil for RVP is a good fee

Yeah I think I'll go and play for that lot that call me a rapist and call Arsene a paedophile. Yeah let's do that. Kerching!

Nasribayor have got nothing on this cunt.

Still, Piers Morgan seems to have had a complete meltdown, so that almost makes it worthwhile. I wonder if we could throw him in to the transfer as a freebie.

How do you figure? He's can play in a number of forward positions.

Crazy money for RVP. I hope he doesn't get injured - at least not immediately, I want to see what formation Ferguson plays with RVP, Rooney, Kagawa, Nani, Valencia and Young.

I'm actually quite happy about this, 24m for a 29 year old who is in the last year of his contract is a fantastic bit of business!

That and I felt we needed RVP to move on anyway, he was the focal point of the team agreed but I can't help but think that hindered us as a team. We became very one dimensional when attacking with everything going though RVP it became too easy for teams to stop us playing. sit deep, stop RVP and stop arsenal.

I'm hoping for a change in system to a 442 but I'll settle for sticking to what we currently play, with poldi and giroud getting into the box and mixing it up(they both seem fairly strong forwards), who seem happy enough to both play with the ball at their feet and also equally as happy to mix it up and throw thier weight around when needed as well.

With robin it was alway a case of him losing his marker or getting that yard of freedom and then doing something special and against teams that where happy to sit deep and show no attacking intent and thus limited him and us space, they made us look bereft of attacking ideas, as I said above I'm hoping with the players we have brought in we will be able to pass though teams as before(cazorla helping in that regard) but also stand up to and even bully some of the teams back that have tried to stop us by kicking us out of games in the past (poldi & giroud).

I don't understand why we can't start the season with Giroud and Chamakh? Podolski can play there, and Gervinho has been used there in pre season too to interesting effect. Of course if Giroud gets seriously injured that'd be a problem, but every team bar Man City would have that issue with their squad.

Giroud isn't going to get 30 goals a season, but the idea seems to be to spread the load around the team. We should be less one-dimensional in theory and less reliant on one guy.

I also don't think we need someone like Gilberto. I'm not sure he'd fit in as well with the way we play these days.

It will be interesting. And also, he won't be the main man and dictate more or less everything as he pleases. I wonder how he'll take that. I was thinking he'll play in the hole but unless Rooney is played as a full on striker I can't understand where he fits in apart from on a rotation basis. He'll probably do well, he is a very good player. I doubt he'll take things by storm though. He'll hate their new kit, I know that.

What makes you think we'll sell Clichy in the summer, Steve?

I've been overly harsh to our left backs in the past but I'm loathe to lay into them too much now when they have Arshavin playing in front of them. Fuck him.

Seems you're a selling club.

What the hell!?

Chamakh is absolutely hopeless though. I really would be astonished if he could turn things around at the club. Even when we were in the deepest of shit last season he wouldn't get off the bench. Relying on Giroud to hit the ground running and Gervinho to pick up the slack sounds optimistic to me. Seems like we're making do.

Seems you're a selling club.

What the hell!?

I hope you contract an illness that makes your hands fall off.

Should take the 24 million, add 6 to it and buy Dede from Vasco, Henrique from Recife, and principally Paulinho from Corinthians. He once dislocated his knee at the start of a game, so he popped it back in the socket himself, and then played the rest of the match. 10 million each might be enough. Or just spend it all on Paulinho.

As someone who has properly dislocated his knee cap several times I find this VERY hard to believe but if it's true he needs to be signed because...FUCK.

Wait, you dragged up a quote about Gael Clichy from 18 months ago to prove...what?

You're weird.

Randomly I entered the topic on my phone and it went to that post! How fortunate.

Really though. Crackers. £24m = no Andy Carroll!

. He's can play in a number of forward positions. We have a few options up front as both giroud and Podolski can play as te focal point, obv Podolski can play across the front three but with gervinho, ox, cazorla, Walcott, we have alot of strength in attack. I wouldn't be suprised if we signed a cheapish striker but can't see a llorente signing anytime soon.
