interesting stat via twitter - over last 3 seasons when Song starts we are 58% win with him, against 44% without.

I think he's pretty underrated and would be a big loss as he isn't simply a defensive clogger like De Jong and has far more creativity than a lot of others he's compared to. He gives you a bit of everything

That's more a comment on the paucity of backup than of Song's quality IMO. We've had no alternative holding player for several years, and it's only towards the tail end of last season that Coquelin started to show that he could perhaps be an able deputy in that position. When the replacement is Denilson then it's no wonder the win% goes down when Song is out.

He gives you a bit of everything, but frequently he's giving a bit of creative flair when we need a bit of solid defending. If he was at all consistent with it a team-mate could cover, but since he does it at random it frequently leaves the defence completely exposed.

I don't want him to go to Utd, rather he goes abroad but if not I'd rather he even goes to City than Utd. It kind of sits better with me, what with City and all their money, I reckon I could convince myself that RVP's a cunt and he's just gone for the money but to sell him to Utd would be hard to take & hard to justify.

For me, he's about as likely to sign for us as he is to apologise profusely and publicly and re-sign for you. If he was sincere with his 'direction of the club' stuff, surely United are no more convincing in that respect. If it's just about money, then he'll sign for Juventus or City. I really don't rate our chances tbh.

As things stand it looks like all parties are feigning a lack of interest and resting Arsenal's nerve. Will we buckle and accept a lower offer as the deadline looms? Will we be left holding on to him until the next transfer window? Thank god our incoming transfer business is going so well for once.

“The start of the EPL will be only three days after our match in Frankfurt. Thus it is important for Per, who has been injured for a long time, and Lukas, who as a new arrival is fighting for his place on the team, to prepare for the start of the season in London.”

Joachim Low explaining why he left our Germans out. Top class.

The Yossi and Santos love affair may have been cruelly cut short but there may be a new couple ready to come out.

Seriously, struggling to believe we have three new top players to watch this season. Seems a bit surreal.

Does anyone else think this RVP to Man Utd stuff is just them doing a bird of paradise routine for their IPO thing? Just trying to make themselves look all fancy? I mean from a footballing perspective it doesn't seem to make much sense.

I still think he'll probably end up at Man City, despite Mancini's protestations.

As someone pointed out in the United thread I expect the interest is genuine and mainly down to the fact that he'll be a lot cheaper than if he had a few years to run on his contract. A world class forward for around £15 million? You'd have to be a bit mental to not consider it really!

I fully expect it to drag out until the last day of the transfer window though wherever he ends up going.
