Got my tickets for the Sunderland game, it's much easier to get them now the ticket process has been changed. I don't know about you guys but I'm very optimistic about this season. We look pretty strong, obviously we could strengthen more but right now we look to have a strong squad.

Fox, that reminds me, I think we need to get this forfeit arranged. ;)

Obviously you can't eat your own gonads, that would be silly.

However...

What do you think? If you provide a picture or video of you tucking into them I will donate £10 to a charity of your choice. Who is with me?

Obviously this all depends on the deal actually going through.

Also RvP's statement is looking very, very out of date now. What direction do you not agree with exactly Robin? Signing three internationals and the only first team player likely to leave is you? Although there have been a few rumours about Song and Theo leaving, you can't really argue with these signings.

Sorry, what were you saying Robin?

on the subject of RvP what's the feeling, I don't want a Rooney situation where he shames the club like that and is granted a huge contract and the fans all chant his name again.

he's done at the club for me and I want him to rot in the reserves or piss off.

I think we need to sell him. I'd rather take a transfer fee for him, regardless of whether it might be less than he's worth, as opposed to him coasting this season to a giant pay day by leaving on a free next summer.

He can't carry on as captain and with the start of the season so close, Wenger should be looking to make a statement as to who will take over (we all know it'll be Vermaelen) and who the new vice is.

He can get lost as far as I'm concerned. I don't think we have anything to benefit from keeping him now after what he's said and he's bound to be stinking the place up. If he cares about the club then why give us such a problem? It's not an issue we'll have to worry about though as he'll end up at City at 11pm on the last day of the transfer window. Arsenal know that and so does everyone else. He won't start ahead of Aguero, that's all I know.

As much shit as there's been, it's very difficult to argue that Arsenal without van Persie is better than Arsenal with van Persie. If he was to apologise to Wenger, the team, us guys, and sign a new (reasonable) contract as well as relinquish the captaincy, it'd obviously be good for all concerned over time.

If he's going to stay to play out the last year of his contract and then fuck off, there's not much point.

Cazorla though, eh? That one came from nowhere.

I wouldn't disagree with that but there's a few points worth considering. Van Persie was top scorer in the Premiership last season, he was also the most profligate in front of goal, missing more chances than anyone else. There's a youtube compilation of

, by my rough calculations half of them are tap ins made by other players - frequently Gervinho and Walcott.

In 07/08, his last fully fit season for us, Adebayor scored 30 goals in all competitions. He's barely scored half that per season since leaving.

The way Arsenal are set up makes strikers look good, creating an awful lot of good chances for the focus of attack to get on the end of. IMO if we hadn't had RVP last season any halfway competent striker would have bagged 20-25 goals for us instead.

There is absolutely no way the ego of a modern footballer is going to allow him to publicly backtrack and apologise for his shit stirring. I really can't see him staying unless no one wants to buy him, and there's absolutely no way we should be offering him a new contract on improved terms.

Hmm, a quick look on ESPN soccer stats shows van Persie to not be particularly more wasteful, in percentage terms, to players who had similar seasons. He scored 18 goals per 100 shots, with Rooney on 17.7, Benzema 18.6 and Aguero 19.6. He doesn't suffer majorly in that comparison.

That was kind of my point - he doesn't score a disproportionate number of goals per chances created. He relied on great service last season and there's no reason to think another great striker wouldn't have scored as freely for us.

This notion that had we not had RVP last season we'd have finished with 36 less goals is non-sensical.

I think had he been injured last season we probably would have been in a bit of a jam as he was being deputised by Chamakh and Park, who were about as potent as a pair of long distance cycling pandas from Chernobyl. There's nothing to suggest that now we've lightened the load from the main striker we couldn't post similar or better goals for stats.

That's the understatement of the century - we would have been entirely toothless up front unless Walcott was converted to a central role. For me, Chamakh's sudden decline is one of the greatest ever mysteries - he looked reasonable or better for some time then seems to have lost all confidence and ability.

Anyone know what the 24 man squad is for the FC Koln game? I read Bendtner and Squillaci are not travelling, but Van Persie is.

As far as Van Persie goes, I actually like that Arsenal seem unwilling to sell unless their price for him is matched, which no-one seems willing to do. He was the outstanding player in the squad last year and despite a lot of tap ins he did win us quite a few games with goals from nothing where we were struggling to break down the opposition.

I thought there was a story doing the rounds about Chamakh having a super injunction after being caught up to no good with a couple of vegas hookers/rent boys which did no good to his clean living Muslim persona back home ?

Story surfaced around the time he stopped scoring
