Arsenal

It wasn't a criticism of people in this thread.

It's just an alarmingly universal assumption across any of the big Arsenal boards I think. There is no more chance of Wilshere meeting these expectations than Ramsey had.

No, but it's sadly to be expected. It's going to be even worse than Ramsey because Wilshere is English and the media have a much stronger interest in him as a result. Because he can actually trap and pass a ball more than five yards, he's now their golden boy. It didn't take long for people to start harping on about him being "England's Pirlo" after the real one made the team look like the technically deficient retards they are in the Euros. I feel fucking sorry for the guy.

It's just so unfair on the boy. His stock has risen more since he's been out than it ever did when he wa playing to the point that if he came back at exactly the same level as if he'd never been away he'd still get panned.

I reckon all of these tours all over the globe don't do anyone any favours. It seems you have to forfeit a decent preparation for the sake of making a few quid. It's not completely to blame for the injury crisis we're in already, but with half the squad at home and half in Timbuktu or wherever it's sounds like a nightmare to get everything sorted. I know Wenger was unhappy we dropped the Austria tour we've done since forever.

Getting a foothold in growing markets is a pretty huge deal commercially. Nigeria was a balls up, but the intention was right and it's something we need to keep on. China is a no brainer.

I am a little surprised that we haven't pushed more with the US after the Colorado Rapids partnership. Perhaps the Big Three sports out there make it too tight a market segment to really exploit when taken against the cost of establishing a presence.

I suppose it's just another part of my dislike for the commercial side of the game. I've said before that I support Arsenal the football team and how they get on playing football matches and not Arsenal PLC and what sort of financial results they publish every April. Whilst it's important we make a load of cash we only really need to do that because of the financial pressures everyone is under. You apparently have to sacrifice the first few weeks of the season to play in some steaming stew on the other side of the planet. I dunno, it annoys me.

i know all the 'its only pre season' standard wisdom but if anybody looks at our comedy defence and comedy keeper (Woj rarely stops on target shots) and doesn't think its cause for concern I just don't get it. 2 more comedy goals today in the first 30 in hong kong

we still don't make any opposition actually work for goals - it was pre season for City on Friday but you could see they wanted a clean sheet against.

I know the results don't matter, we've got players coming in etc but looking at the manner of play and the goals conceded not looking like much changed so far.

I think this is a big season for Szczesny. He's got potential but there's plenty of room for improvement. I don't think he was statistically that high up in the top Prem keepers last season, would be good to check. Definitely needs a competitive back up (Sorry Fabianski).

Also, more talk that Cazorla and Sahin deals could really happen...surely it's too good to be true.

EDIT> Found this link. Maybe it's just that he's had a few memorable mistakes that makes it seem worse on reflection. I mean, he's no Paul Robinson.

Malaga are making some sort of statement today apparently. Sid Lowe also said they were negotiating last night to get rid of their Sporting Director. Things do seem pretty bad there right now; a cautionary tale to all the twonks who want Uzmanov to ride in on a white stallion and loan the club hundreds of millions of his own money.

Cazorla allegedly at an airport in London today.

It'll definitely help the Olympic tourists coming to London to have the airport assistants having lanyards that say "Barcelona" on them.

Alright eagle eyes. Blame Sid Lowe, he Tweeted it. :(

Please don't sell him to Juve. The thought of him taking the 10 is, well, I'm not sure there's a shower in the world hot enough to make me feel clean.

Someone's gonna have to take it.

Diaby's been playing in pre-season, right? How's he been?

I've snuck him into my Fantasy League team as my wildcard. £6.5m seems a bit high but his ability isn't in question.

IMHO...

That's mental.

with 2 pre season friendlies to go the chances of Diaby being fit for selection at home to Sunderland are nil.

the bloke is made of balsa wood, shame as I think he has potential to be incredibly classy but he just never gets any games injury free.
