Bergkamp was already my favourite player before he even signed for us. I remember seeing him play for Ajax and wishing that one day we would sign a player like that. After two poor seasons at Inter it became a reality. I remember the few days before he signed for us there were rumours that Cruyff was trying to lure him to Barcelona and at one point I remember reading on Teletext that Spurs were the favourites to sign him. I still have the newspaper I bought the day after he signed for us with all the pictures and quotes from the press conference. There was no internet at the time so all we had for news was the papers and Teletext.

Then I think I was listening to 606 just after he signed for us and Spurs fans were going mental as we had signed Bergkamp and they had spunked their cash on Chris Armstrong lol.gif

I'm a Forest fan (and a closet-Gooner), and I remember leaving page 302 of Ceefax on all day, and re-dialling it every few minutes, waiting for news of if Teddy Sheringham had signed for us. Seems silly now, but that was the best information source available

I think we are all in agreement that Bergkamp was the man. I idolised the guy growing up and he is and will always be my favorite player bar none! RVP could've gone down as a legend if he signed a new contract and actually went on to win things with us, but hey we are all used to the summer tripe by now. The sad thing is that he will end up at city and so, will be hated by virtually all Arsenal fans. Even with all this going on i'm not that worried so far, i'm more concerned that we haven't flogged more of the deadwood over the whole RVP thing.

Personally I'm happy it's all happening now rather than on aug 31st. We have time and presumably money to get replacements in, and I'm very wary of RvP's glass knees and think one good season and £25 mil wouldn't be bad business. I reckon there's a 1:3 chance of him only being available for 50% of games next year, getting players in like Podolski who are entering their prime gives me hope. We need a few more though, if you're speculating on unproven talent you need to throw a bit of shit at the wall

The behind the scenes infighting is fairly horrible. The one upside I can see is that you are far better off in my opinion if you end up getting shot of Walcott, I still find him to be unbelievably overrated. I think Podolski and Giroud could be class as well.

Great to have a view from inside the dressing room.

Pop off.

Not from inside the dressing-room, just the actually pubicised stuff from Usmanov about the direction of the club etc. Interesting to see the interest in Cazorla, great player.

Malaga are weird, but they're my current FM team so I like them. Basically, take every single thing to do with their finances with a massive, massive pinch of salt because they're simultaneously the richest and poorest club in the world, depending which way the wind is blowing.

Whether or not this translates into Arsenal actually managing to sign Cazorla or not is another story but things are coming to a head there.

Cazorla wants to leave Málaga, the club he joined for €19m last summer from Villarreal, after wages went unpaid during the campaign and promises were broken. The 27-year-old has told Málaga of his intention to depart and he has also spoken to Arsenal to tell them he is keen on joining them.

Málaga may facilitate the move but the power vacuum and inertia at the club means that the future is uncertain. If Málaga's Qatari owner, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al-Thani, does not inject more money, the sale of Cazorla would represent the swiftest way for the Spanish club to cover their debts. If Málaga do not settle those debts by 31 July they face relegation to Second Division B and the loss of their Uefa licence and Champions League participation.

We will know in a week.

Maybe more of a post for general football, but dose anyone know what the hell happened there?

I don't think anyone knows. They've lost a high up member of staff, but it seems like the owner has just lost interest (despite his money being used, basically, brilliantly).

EDIT: Also, what Sirloin said.

Can anyone fill me I on Cazorla? I have heard him described as a winger, but also as an attacking midfielder.

Be interesting to see what happens at Malaga, I wonder if this is how Van Persie (and most the media come to think of it) think a club should be run!

I see Frimpong's gone and got himself in trouble with the FA over a tweet he made calling a sp*rs fan a scum y**

This was after being provoked when the guy said he prays Frimpong breaks his arms and legs.

Obviously Frimpong's reaction wasn't the best, but footballers and twitter hey?
