Arsenal

Theres no fucking way that'll happen, I reckon the signings of Podolski and Giroud were made "just in case", as usual we'll sell for a fee that doesn't really match the quality of the player and it'll be the usual "well, he was in the last year of his contract so the fee was lower" bullshit.

Given infinite fitness, I'm sure David Villa is better than RVP - or at least there certainly isn't £13m between them. Unless there's something going on behind the scenes at Barce (and Villa hasn't always seemed happy there) that'd be the most mental transfer ever.

Not that it'll happen, obviously.

More or less mental than when they gave Inter £45m and Eto'o for Ibrahimovic?

I don't think it'll happen either, mind, but they do have previous, and Villa is older than RVP.

It would be excellent if we proved RVP wrong about ambition by replacing him with someone better though. That'd be a high quality zing.

Yeah he'll be really embarrassed as he wins the UCL and La Liga with Barca

Is he back at Chelsea? I'd like him at the Arsenal for another season.

Yes it was a season long loan and we haven't made any further moves for him. Thought he did well really, considering he was signed at about 11.45 on deadline day as Arsene rung around any agents he knew and grabbed what he could, like a football version of supermarket sweep.

Presumably Chelsea don't want to send him out on loan, and Arsene isn't willing to put his hand into his pocket, so I doubt there'd be any resolution that could see him here for the start of the season.

If Chelsea failed to shift him though, you'd think another deadline day loan deal wouldn't be out of the question.

Most loan deals aren't done until the season has started and the window is nearing an end. Yossi did well for us and i wouldn't mind him again so long as it was on loan, but i realy hope the OX gets alot of playing time. We need to hurry up and shift the deadwood!

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that Serie A outfit Fiorentina have tabled an offer for Marouane Chamakh.

"Fiorentina requested information on his availability and made an offer," said Wenger.

Please be true, even though it doesn't say if the offer is actually money or a couple of cases of Vino. (either way we should take it)

He signed a contract extension last summer, didn't he? Presumably this means he's in Wenger's plans somehow. I dunno how much longer he can just keep going out on loan though, he's nearly 22 which is far older than you'd expect an Arsenal player to break through.

I like what I've seen so far of Lansbury, but the fact that he couldn't get a regular game last season for West Ham doesn't fill me with confidence that he's ever going to make it at Arsenal.

I think the contract extension was to make sure we get some wedge for him if we move him on - he's played a fair few games for England U-21s so any interested party would buy him for a HIGH PRICE.

Yeah, true (@toythatkills but also anders). So maybe a choice of him or Yossi playing a bit part then? I choose Lansbury. Going off subject a bit and I know I've spoken about this before but Wilshere is really the only player we've genuinely brought through to the first team from scratch in a decade. Not much of a return, especially given that Arsene this week suggested that he won't change and he'll stick by the youth model. I think by youth he means cheap (possibly not his choice but if he disagrees then why is he still here?) and as much as I'd punch van Persie in the face he probably has a point. I've said for a few years that the board are all simply making money for themselves and Usmanov has publicly said the same. I don't know whether we've got it brilliantly right or horribly wrong. And as for Stan, the bloke is clearly a wrong 'un and I detest him. Where the fuck is he?

Sorry for abruptly changing the tone chaps :hat: .

I wish the term "World Class" would fuck off and die. People reference it like it's an actual category of ability.

Once a good player would be "in form" or "out of form", now he's "world class" or "good, but not world class".

Is it not a good measure then? Surely it is or everyone with a great Sunday morning behind them would be world class. I think Arsene said that you don't buy a player based on a good tournament alone and I agree. There's a scale of ability ranging from you through most other people, then me, a select handful and then Dennis Bergkamp. Bergkamp's form fucked off a few times (so I'm told, I wasn't there) but he was utterly incredible and that was just undeniable fact. He was world class regardless of whether he'd hit 999 or 1000 out of 1000 that particular week.

*light hearted*
