I'd have Kaloul for free. I'd love Hazard even though Art might be right that he'd possibly flop so it would be a gamble. I also think that somehow Arsene wouldn't get the best out of him anyway, see also Arshavin and Gervinho. I think Arsene needs to start kicking arse now and a fresh face in Bould joining might make that a bit easier.

Ivan Gazidis:

"Robin sat down with us at the end of the season and we had a good discussion. What we agreed at that meeting was that we would keep all the discussions we had over the summer to ourselves and make announcements when it is the right time. We have to respect the fact we have agreed to keep that among ourselves. Robin is clearly focused on the Euros at the moment and we wish him well, and at the right time we will make the right announcements."

It's just a typical Gazidis statement. He's a master of this kind of meaningless waffle. To be honest I don't imagine him to come out with anything interesting and would fully expect him to deflect any and all further questions at tonight's Q&A thing. We all know it's gone beyond the point where he's going to get Van Persie to sign so he'd be better off talking about something more interesting or nothing at all. I just have no faith that he'll navigate the club around another iceberg this summer at all.

This is true. I thought he'd be great when he joined but to be honest our PR, transfer dealings and announcements continue to be shit. Didn't he meet the supporters this week to explain about Wenger not planning to spend much this summer? It's like the whole Club is on a massive, constant wind up.

Q&A was predictably very dull indeed. I don't really get the point in them to be honest, everyone is just sick and tired of hearing how these financial rules are going to save the day and how you don't need to spend any money to be successful. We get that's the shite you've been banging on about for years so let's just leave it at that.

It's Fathers' Day on Goal.com - here's Robin van Persie's dad, Bob, on his son's future, appearing to close a lot of doors on his possible departure from Arsenal this summer.

"It's not logical to go to Barcelona. They already have Lionel Messi over there. Real Madrid also doesn't fit into the picture," he told El Mundo Deportivo.

"Manchester City is also no option. It's impossible to play for another club then Arsenal in England."

Well, then. That must be music to the ears of Gunners fans.

Reports that Giroud is going to Arsenal. Apparently £12.8m is enough to trigger a release clause but Arsenal are hoping to weigh Chamakh in for some of that. Sounds good (even though he's likely to be French Player Of The Year Who Promptly Turns To Shit Once Arsenal Sign Him) but a little bit too Football Manager. And he's another left-footed forward...

Oguzhan Ozyakup has left Arsenal to join Turkish side Besiktas in a deal which will net the Gunners €500,000.

The 19-year-old Dutchman joined the north Londoners as a trainee in 2008 and played in the 8-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ozyakup is likely to be given more first team opportunities at Besiktas and the teenager is looking forward to the challenge.

“There are many experienced players at this club and I want to learn from them. It’s a significant advantage for me,” he told Besiktas’ official website after signing.

The Turkish giants announced that their new signing is set to receive a €100,000 (£81,000) signing-on fee, a per-game bonus of €7,500 (£6,100) limited for 40 games, and wages of €400,000 (£324,000) in his first season.

These will rise to €425,000 (£344,000) in his second, €450,000 (£364,000) in his third and €475,000 (£384,000) in his fourth season at the club.

I make that, he stands to earn around £1.75 million over the next 4 years.

All for a 19 year old who didn't make it at a big club in the PL.

Who said the money in football has gone crazy........................

Seems like this may actually be happening, although Chamakh will be loaned to Montpellier. Quite excited by this if it actually happens!

I haven't seen enough of him to really judge, though based on what I have seen I'd agree with that first sentence pretty much word for word. To be fair though, I was quite impressed with some of Chamakh's link-up play prior to his joining Arsenal, and I haven't seen much of that from Giroud yet, and also can't decide if the opportunistic (lucky?) nature of some of the goals I've seen him score is a cause for optomism or concern (especially based on how we play).

I'm not really a keen student of the French game though, so I don't doubt that there's someone around more qualified to say whether we should be wary or excited...

I just don't see how we'll sign Giroud unless we get rid of at least one body up top. I'm not talking about Chamakh or Park, but out of Gervinho/Theo/Robin.

Robin would probably be the most likely out of those three. If by some miracle he came and we kept everyone, it'd be a tough job to figure out who would play.

Ditch Chamakh and Park definitely. Leaves us with Gervinho, Walcott, RvP and Podolski plus Giroud or someone else. I think that sounds about right personally. And Chamberlain, of course, wherever he ends up playing. Flexible but with great cover and options right across the front line. Possibly Giroud or someone else is being greedy but I'd like to think we've learnt something and we'll throw caution to the wind.

So he's pretty much a done deal. So what does this mean? Theo with a year left on his contract will leave on a free if he isn't playing, Podolski definitely hasn't come to sit on our bench and if Robin is fit he plays. That's before you look at Gervinho and The Ox.

So is Giroud simply a back up for Robin, or will we change our system to fit them both in?

BBC reckon Giroud is close now, it's sounding to start pretty finalised. It's nice and all, but we scored 74 goals last season. Unless Van Persie's leaving, I'd much rather see Wenger acknowledge that it's the defence that needs some work.

Fuck defending.

EDIT: Obviously if Bendtner stays this is moot 'cause you'd build the team around him instead.
