Arsenal Football Club will be releasing seven players at the end of their contracts on June 30.

Professionals Manuel Almunia, George Brislen-Hall, Gavin Hoyte, Sean McDermott, Rhys Murphy, together with Scholars James Campbell and Jeffrey Monakana will all be released on July 1 and are therefore free to join other clubs from this point.

I know Almunia's seen as a bit of a joke now, but he was pretty good for us for a season or two there. Shame he kind of went backwards, really.

Fair play to Chelsea really, the fact they fucked it up for the Spuds has made me grin. If RVP does go, abroad would be fine. City would be rubbing our noses in it.

I said a few months ago that the deal was all but done. There's nothing substantial to back this up other than what I've heard, but he's meant to be picking up 210k a week. There's just the small matter of agreeing the fee between the two clubs. I'll wager negotiations will go on all summer and we will sell him 10 mins before the transfer deadline leaving no time to sign anyone

He was ok as a backup option for his first two seasons, but having him as our number one was just sheer stupidity. He was a proven hopeless liability and let's not forget that he cost us many valuable points. In all my years of watching Arsenal I'd say he's one of the worst goalies we've had between the sticks. Useless.

I think that's a bit harsh, when he was forcing his way into the first team he was genuinely playing well and deserved the run. All those slightly mental rumours about him becoming the new England no. 1 came about then. He just couldn't keep it up when he was given the place rather than having to fight for it and then moved on to being very, very bad indeed. I feel a bit sorry for him, really and I hope he gets a chance to go out on a bit of a brighter note elsewhere.

Kalou has definately become the new Frey now. Maybe we were just waiting until he slipped into our price range, i.e. "nothing". I'd much rather we just kept Benayoun, it might be an underwhelming signing but he's a useful player and everyone seems to like him. I think we've all put up with a lot when it comes to haircuts recently, but the day I see a player with a fucking spider shaved onto his cranium pull on the Arsenal shirt is the day I really start to question what we're doing.

The Mirror made me laugh today. They reckon we're offloading half the first team squad so we can prepare a bid for Junior Hoilett. The Junior Hoilett who's out of contract and will cost about £4m. Even the most pessimistic fan can't think we're that hard up, surely.

Benayoun is a busy little player. A lot of the time he's busy doing nothing but he does chip in with the odd vital goal. I wouldn't be upset if we signed him.

He's just not a very good player though, and certainly not better than what we've got. We need a replacement for Arshavin so let's go and get someone who's likely to make an impact, not a cast off from a team that finished lower than us. Really all he's got going for him is that he's free and was a passenger in a squad that won quite a bit. If that's the level of our ambition then we might as well get Michael Owen to play up top too whilst we're at it.

Wouldn't be happy at all if we signed Kalou. Definitely not the kind of signings we need to be making - free or not.

I wouldn't mind if we kept Benayoun and also got someone in who could challenge for a 1st team position rather than someone who warms the bench at Chelsea.

Apart from the odd Youtube clip i've not seen much of him, and his stats are impressive, but I get the impression he is the biggest tart around and can't bear the innevitable speculation of him wanting to go to Madrd/Barca/City/Russia/Whoever will pay more in a few years so I hope he pisses off there now.

I reckon he's going to flop wherever he ends up next. There's just something about him that makes me think he's not going to cut it in the Premiership and his record is only really impressive this season. He's just the next next big thing. The Star have linked us with him because Gotze is staying at Dortmund, another player who we'd never buy. Almost like they're making it up as they go along.

I think Hazard is being quite entertaining. It's more fun than the tedious Nasri leaving saga, he's being honest to the fans at his current club and only going to be more appreciated by the club he does sign for in the end.

I'd rather have that than Nasri slinking off then being a bitch.

Bit harsh, I'm not suggesting he'd represent the pinnacle of our ambition but for free he's not terrible business, provided his wages were sensible. He's only 26, knows the English game and has just started a Champions League final in preference to Englands Most expensive player. I've always thought him a decent forward, not that they give you a full picture but his stats aren't too shabby either.

Seems crazy Chelsea have just let him go, does this mean they're taking FFP seriously?

I get the impression they didn't want to commit to the sort of deal a 26 year old footballer at Chelsea would expect. 4 years minimum at 75k doesn't represent great value for money for someone of his contribution level. It seems fool hardy to use up a valuable squad place on him too. I dunno, if that problem exists for Chelsea then it should apply to us too. They're blatantly clearing the decks for another forward to come in, so that suggests to me we should be aiming to match their ambition rather than pick off the scraps, especially as that's the one area we desperately need to improve too.

That reminds me. We were "full" at the end of the season. I think it's 17 non-English and over 21 players allowed and we had our full quota. Obviously Benayoun is not permanent and Almunia has gone but with all the loan players coming back possibly we need to clear a bit of room before we dip into the money pot.

Unless we plan to pay Bendtner, Denilson and Vela etc to not play football....

so no real change from when they were at Arsenal really.
