If we get Van Persie to somehow sign a deal then this season would end up OK I reckon. I don't think we'll be wrestling the title away from Manchester anytime soon but with a few more ins and outs we could run it a bit closer next year. I'd be happy with a decent run in the cups too as we were piss poor this season.

I think we badly need another creative player somewhere in the squad. I think a central midfielder with an eye for a pass isn't high on the shopping list but it probably should be. I have a feeling Diaby is going to get another roll of the dice in that area. I have literally no idea who we'll try and bring in though. Absolutely none. I've got a feeling it's going to be quite a quiet summer.

Great season, IMO: I think there was a whole lot more to cheer, as a fan, than any time the last 3 or 4 years. Finishing above Spurs was the icing on the cake.

But did anyone else hear RVP's post-match interview on MOTD tonight? He said something like:

"We will have a meeting next week. I have been here for eight years and will always love Arsenal, whatever happens."

Sounds like he's already gone, sadly. I hope I'm wrong :(

I don't think he is gone already, I do believe he will stay. Hopefully now the club will wake up a bit and give the guy what he deserves (better players and more money) if we press on with selling alot of the deadwood we can save ourselves a hefty sum of money and use a bit of it to tie down these players entering their last year of their contracts.

Overall, rubbish is harsh. But he wouldn't be lauded particularly at a team that has a defence.

He was fucking miles out of position for their second goal yesterday. Again.

Dude gets an easy ride because he's aggressive when trying to win the ball, and he scores quite a lot.

Yea I agree. Massively over rated as a defender and the first choice pair when fit is Koscielny and the German.

It's a lot harder to be a good defender when you don't trust either of your full-backs or your defensive midfielder to be where they should be. He has had some fantastic matches, he's just not perfect.

That said, the current crop of defenders in the premiership is of a pretty uniformly low standard. There are some good ones, obviously, but compare any current club to that Arsenal defence and the difference is ridiculous.

There's being poor positionally and then there's pointlessly marauding forward at every opportunity. I wish someone had said to him that it's just suicidal, especially when you've got a holding midfielder who thinks he's Pele or something and a fullback playing the false 3 position (copyright some bloke off twitter). For such a supposedly great leader you'd think he'd have the awareness not to leave the rest of the team in deep shit at every turn.

What's worrying is that Vermaelen, like all our defenders, is actually alright. I just don't get why we're prone to such errors, of which we can add another two to the running total from yesterday. Really good teams who win stuff don't concede five goals against fairly ordinary outfits such as Norwich and West Brom. That kind of thing needs to be put right with what we have now, we can't go out and buy a whole new defensive line-up every summer and hope something eventually sticks.

That's our goals conceded column for the last five years. That it keeps getting worse is pretty appalling. You're never going to get anywhere near the top of the league if you concede 49 goals.

Is it true that if Chelsea win against Bayern then Arsenal drop into the qualifying rounds? If so I am now torn about who I want to win the Champions League. I can't see Chelsea doing it to be honest, especially as its at Bayern's stadium.

Take out the (freak) 8-2 and replace it with a more reasonable loss and it's about the same as last season. Take into account the fact we've not had any fullbacks and it's possible to spin it into an improvement. I'm not going to, because it's still rubbish, but it's not a disaster.

No it's not true.

Chelsea for the win then....actually I still want Bayern to win. As much as I despise Spurs I cannot stand Chelsea and Man City and the fact that they have bought success so easily...

It may be a win win but the ideal is for Chelsea to lose even though that means Sp*rs go into the qualifiers.

We can't have Chelsea winning the CL, no no no.

Just imagine Terry & Cole with their hands on the trophy, that's enough to make you sick.

There's even a chance that, should Chelsea win, Abramovitch will lose interest in Chelsea. He's been there, done that, got the proverbial T-Shirt. Particularly given the much touted financial fair play is around the corner. As Art says, it's all win/win.

I'd rather Bayern win - there are going to be some tricky qualifiers out there and I just don't want Chelsea to win it. It's nice to have something good come from it, but Chelsea failing to qualify for the Champion's League is funnier than Tottenham failing. They fail (pretty much) every year.
