Adrian Durham was trollin' hard last night. His take on the Podolski deal was that "Robin Van Persie's replacement has been signed nice and early. A guy who wasn't good enough for Bayern Munich."

edit: I'd just like to point out that I was only listening to that cunt because I was in someone else's car

Let me guess, his co-presenter thought it was actually a very good signing, RvP will probably stay and that Arsenal had done very well.

He thinks the complete opposite? What are the chances! I must tune in myself today, can't resist such thoughtful analysis.

I like how Arseblog this morning points out those signings we made that weren't good enough for Inter and weren't good enough for Juventus

According to Guardians rumour mill we're close to signing Vertonghen and, would you believe, Yann M'Vila.

I hope Yann M'vila doesn't turn out to be the new 'Ligue 1 Player Of The Year (Who Turns To Shit As Soon As He Leaves France)', seeing as we seem to have ended up with the 2010 and 2011 winners in our squad.

Zinedine Cygan was the Ligue 1 Player of the Year the season we bought him. That turned out well.

Cygan joined Arsenal in the summer of 2002 for £2 million,[1][2] making his debut in a 1–1 draw against Chelsea, as a substitute for Nwankwo Kanu, on 1 September 2002. While he featured notably in some of Arsenal's more important fixtures, he was mostly considered only a fringe player, but did, however, pick up a Premier League winners' medal in 2003–04, with 18 appearances.

Cygan scored three goals for Arsenal in league action, including an unlikely brace in his first match of the 2005–06 campaign against Fulham.[3] Until then, he had only scored one goal, against Everton, in March 2003.[4]

Also in 2005–06, following injuries to both Ashley Cole and Gaël Clichy, Cygan was drafted in as an emergency left back, and was even named in the Opta team of the week on 9 January 2006.[5] Overall, Arsenal won 12 of the 20 matches Cygan played in, and kept 11 clean sheets in the process.[6] He suffered a hamstring injury in January and was unable to play again that season, as he was then fourth-choice, behind Sol Campbell, Kolo Touré and Philippe Senderos, with the young Johan Djourou also competing for a place. In total, Cygan played 98 games for Arsenal (including 20 Champions League appearances).

yeah, pretty much...

Am I being thick here? I was curious as to who won Ligue 1 player of the year in 2010 and 2011 (was thinking it'd probably be Gervinho for one of them) but according to Wikipedia it was won by Lisandro Lopez and Eden Hazard respectively. I can't see any mention of Cygan at all.

Yeah I didn't say 'Ligue 1 Player of the Year', I said 'Ligue 1 Player Of The Year (Who Turns To Shit As Soon As He Leaves France)'. Totally different award. Last won by Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh.

I'm currently on a dead heat with somebody on Fantasy League, the winner getting £60... How has RvP been the past few weeks? Basically I have him, Rooney (Swansea Home) and Cisse (City away) up top and need to decide who to have as Captain and double points. Help me out Arsenal boys.

He's been pretty off the boil. Having said that, he would have had about another 5 goals over the last few games had it not been for some incredible saves and a spot of bad luck. If I had to guess, Rooney is going to go to town on Swansea and City being City Cisse will score of hat trick with his back end or something so they lose the title in comical fashion. Haven't got a clue how Arsenal are going to play to be frank. Rooney all the way.
