Arsenal

We have been dreadful in this second half. We're just not defending as a unit at all. Walcott and Gervinho really don't do their fair share of defending and we seem to get exposed every time they get the ball out to the flanks.

It's difficult to believe the old trick of parking the bus and then breaking on us knowing we'll bugger something up is still so effective though. Concentration against teams lower down the league is such a problem.

I still think Djourou is shit.

Ditto Gervinho, who seems to have taken the opportunity to take over from Arshavin in every single way. Walcott was back to his most pathetic, Santos can't defend at all but I still quite like him. Rosicky was great, AOC was pretty good. Everyone else was below par, quite significantly. Including Chesney and RVP sadly.

But I've got to give credit to Wigan, they were brilliant. They...made use of the full flexibility of the rules (when did we bring time-outs in as a rule again?) it has to be said but you can't really blame them, they lined up with an attacking formation that they could shift into a very defensive one when needed. Arsenal could do with being able to do that.

I'm a bit worried about 4th place again. Chelsea and Newcastle are both moving up a gear of late and any slip-ups are a mess. Hopefully Barcelona will be Chelsea's priority and we'll get an easier run against them than we would have done but you can't really do much more than cross your fingers for the match against Stoke either, although I'd fancy 6 points from the last 2.

Jesus... we've always gotta make it difficult for ourselves. That said I would never have picked Wigan to beat United then Arsenal back to back...

Arsenal upcoming games: Chelsea (Home), Stoke, Norwich (H), West Brom.

Tottenham upcoming games: QPR, Blackburn (H), Bolton, Villa, Fulham (H) - the way they're playing, these are the sort of banana skin games they'd rather avoid.

Chelsea upcoming games: Arsenal, QPR (H), Newcastle (H), Liverpool, Blackburn (H) - three tough games, Newcastle game is crucial for their top 4 spot, plus the Champions League matches getting in the way of this draw.

Newcastle upcoming games: Stoke (H), Wigan, Chelsea, Man City (H), Everton - some tough games here.

Warning! Is what happened here. If you're going to be like that, at least don't do it in team threads.

We were complete toilet tonight and deserved absolutely nothing from that game. Fair play to Wigan though; they played really well and I hope they stay up, despite the fact that they had the most pathetic away support I've ever seen (must have been no more than 200) and that Roberto Martinez wore brown shoes with a black suit.

Terrible last night. For all their win free kick, time waste and repeat tactics they actually sussed us out and played well too. Santos is a miserable defender, I can't see him lasting long. Ramsey was awful, Walcott too. Gervinho is waste of time, should've got Chamberlain on instead cos by the time he came off the bench it was too late and a bit unfair on him. Really disappointing and a total lack of creativity once Arteta went off. Chelsea is now an even bigger test and were dare not lose. Wenger was asked about their formation before the game and said we wouldn't really cater for it, I wish we had.

Ramsey would be better suited to a deeper role I think, playing next to a bit of an enforcer and possibly at a different club. I feel for the guy as he was ok at the start of the season, but he's contributed nothing for months and months. An awful lot of his play goes sideways and I can barely even remember the last time he spent a game delivering a few probing passes. Hopefully he can get some confidence on his summer holidays or something as I'm ashamed to say I'm dreading him replacing Arteta for the rest of the season.

The Wigan game really reminded me of some of the games towards the end of last season, we just did not look like scoring in the 2nd half and it could easily have been 3-1 to Wigan as they were pretty effective on the break. Also Djourou looked really poor. I hope that we can still hold on to 3rd, as I don't think Spurs are any better than us right now and Chelsea have the Champions League distracting them.

Not looking good for Arteta - ligament damage. A full diagnosis expected tomorrow.

From Twitter so no confirmation yet but a huge loss if true. Amazing how much we have come to rely on him. Missed him hugely on Monday and when he was out in January.

And, unsurprisingly, Wilshere is out for the season as well. Kinda getting to that point where you should be taking your boots with you whenever you go to a match again for central midfield. AOC will have to start against Chelsea, he'd be a nightmare to play against between two matches against Barcelona.
