I'm not even sure Wenger thought we'd put together a run like this with the fixtures we've had. Fantastic effort from the team. Gives us a bit of slack for when we play Chelsea and City.

If we beat Chelsea, they'd have to make up 11 points (and 11+ GD) in the other seven games. We've seen such gaps disappear in four games, sure, but they'd need a ton of luck

Arteta was blatantly using that FIFA 10 trick where you hold down LB at free kicks so the ball comes off your foot like it's been fired from a howitzer.

first thing I said to my son in the ground was that's a LB free kick.

great first half, Rosicky very lively and at centre of it all again and Theo's run of looking like a footballer continues (don't get your hopes up, they never last). Couldn't see what happend to Djourou or the Ox pen shout but bearing in mind it was that twat reffing who wants to be the players friend I'll assume he ballsed it up.

exactly what a team like us should be doing to inept shite like Villa, they were rotten and needed putting to the sword more, which is why the second half was disappointing.

all in all though a lovely day with the spuds draw and the bin dippers messing up again

Great win, again. Watching Wenger interviewed after the game I was thinking how much stick he gets from inside and outside the Club. Me included. He's got faults of course but you have to admire how fucking resilient he is. He really is an outstanding man IMHO and I'm so pleased we've had this good run and he's been proved right again on numerous fronts. Class. Utter class.

The job he's done this season has ultimately been incredibly good. I genuinely thought he was down a out a couple of months ago but to turn it around has taken some doing. It wasn't so long ago that the thought of another season with things as they were seemed unbearable, but I'm actually excited again now.

I've actually fallen into the trap of thinking we might not actually need to buy all that much this summer aside from a striker. Aneke, Afobe, Coquelin, Miyachi and Frimpong look like players that will almost definately make the grade, plus there's every chance Wilshere might actually play a game or two. Things are looking up that's for certain.

Jenkinson has looked really good I thought. He's had a couple of dodgy games and really he was a huge gamble to start with, but he's a fine deputy to Sagna and it's nice to have a proper Gooner in the team. Most of our defensive problems have come from never having a settled line up rather than there being anything wrong with the players.

Funnily that's the one area of the team we pretty much require no strengthening. We have Sagna IMO the best right-back in the league and possibly best full back overall. Jenkinson is very raw but a more than able deputy and it was a real shame he was injured for so long while Sagna was. Gibbs and Santos are more than enough for left back.

The problem we had is they were all out at once. One week it was Vermaelen left back and Coquelin right then others and just about anyone who was fit and half-able at full back. We had youth midfielders playing full back.

I'd really like cover for RvP, assuming he doesn't leave. If the Podolski stuff is real then he could do a fine job there. If RvP leaves we are back to square one.

Podolski, plus a quality attacking midfielder, or a defensive midfielder to let Song to play higher up the pitch more often.

We'll probably need a keeper too as Almunia, Fabianski and Mannone could all feasibly leave. James Shea could probably be third choice I suppose.

After the Ox's performance against Milan I would take a winger and take the option to use him more in the middle. The kid is a beast, showed it again on Saturday in his brief appearance. Wenger is right to hold him back a little because he is shit hot and the longer he can keep the pressure off him and the crap that comes with it, the better. He is a star of the future no doubt. A bargain whatever we paid for him.

Plus don't forget Wilshere #likeanewsigning

He's inconsistent from what I've seen, can be great, but if it's not going his way he can start to go down very easily. When he's on song he's really impressive, montpelliers best player apart from Giroud. He scored a cracker this weekend, wonder if the Podolski move has ruled him out of Wengers thinking.

Really good results the past few games, almost the reverse of previous seasons where we fell apart in Feb/March.

Agree with others that the squad is actually looking quite good, especially with players like Coquelin, Miyachi and Frimpong waiting in the wings. We really just need backup for Van Persie and a world class creative midfielder. Although with the way Rosicky has been playing and with Jack coming back I'm thinking even that is not a priority.

Maybe not Frimpong, but Wilshere surely? He was integral to the team last season and is supposed to be coming back from injury before the Euro's. Having been out so long he may have the same problems as Vermaelen and others with niggling injuries though.

I'd hope the actual break won't come back, but the chances he'll come back and be ready to go seem fairly slim. Hopefully he'll get a full pre-season, that'd help.

Poor old Frimpong though, he's got a real struggle on though. For it to happen to both his knees is just ridiculously unlucky, or maybe suggesting there is something more seriously wrong that will get him in a bit of a mess.

He managed to smash it in like that because he's got short feet. Apparently.

Indeed. Arsene said in his weekly email:

Mikel Arteta scored the final goal with an excellent free-kick. I prefer it when he takes free-kicks with his laces because he has short feet. Those types of players are very talented at hitting the ball with their laces because they make the ball float a little when they strike it.

Also, first time since 1997 that two Englishmen have scored for us in the league in the same game!

Miyaichi looked good for Bolton again. Made one goal and put another on a plate for one of their players. Wouldn't be surprised if he's voted their player of the month again. He should be more than ready for the first team next season.
