Only 4 points behind Spurs now! I only caught the 2nd half of the game, but I thought Liverpol despite their workrate were really poor going forward. Hope we can snatch 3rd, make a couple of big signings and give Van Persie whatever he wants to stay.

A pretty good weekend. We robbed those 'orrible whinging "the world is against us!" Scousers, Chelsea lost & Spurs got thumped!

On the downside, AVB got sacked so Chelsea may actually win a game again. I thought he was doing a fantastic job.

For Arsenal.

As one of those life-following Football Manager things, AVB became the Arsenal manager after Wenger resigned and he's been there for four or five years. He's doing quite well.

Chelsea was always an odd choice for a promising young manager like him, given their squad of ancient, overindulged egomaniacs. He undoubtedly made some big mistakes (if he was meant to be reinvigorating their squad, why did he seem to reluctant to use any of their young players?), but it doesn't necessarily make him shit. He'd probably do alright at Arsenal!

I was slightly worried that they were going to replace AVB with Rafa Benitez who'd steady the ship and have them collect enough points to get 4th with some unspectacular but effective football. As it stands Di Matteo is apparently even less popular with the players and was pretty crap at West Brom which will hopefully mean they'll continue being a bit more rubbish than us until the summer.

I think AVB was just under pressure to play a bunch of players he probably didn't want to. He'll go somewhere he can do what he wants again and be a success. I'd love him to be Wenger's understudy next season with a view to him taking the big job in a couple of years, but I think he'd rather not wait.

Nah I reckon if he'd have wanted to play more young players he would have been able to. That seemed to be his remit after all. I guess he just thought some of their kids are not really all they're hyped up to be? But even so, would McEachran or Romeu have done any worse than the comically inept Meireles? Is Bosingwa really a better reserve left-back than Bertrand? Would Lukaku have scored less than Torres?

I dunno, it just seems to me that if he'd have played the youngsters a lot more and they were in 5th at this point, he'd still be in a job.

But anyway, ARSENAL!

Really, he needed to either get rid of the old-guard immediately or pander to them. I don't see how a half-half situation could benefit anyone. Di Matteo will probably spontaneously combust if things get worse.

ARSENAL are apparently looking at Hoillet. This is baseless second-hand paper tittle-tattle, but I felt compelled to mention ARSENAL and that's all I've got.

That Russian bellend will only install an equally useless lapdog as manager so I am not too bothered about them. Plus the Chelsea squad is ironically nearly as old as the famous Chelsea Pensioners. John Terry is shit, Fat Frank is getting fatter, Drogba will bugger off in May & they have a £50m paperweight they couldn't give away, so they have huge problems.

Hopefully Abramovich will get bored & walkout taking his money with him. Chelsea will go bust & the liquidators will sell the ground & land to Tesco.

That's my dream anyway.

I'm actually glad that Chelsea got rid of AVB, because I thought he had them playing some decent football and could have done well for them in the long term. Maybe we can pick up Sturridge from them in the summer now!

They can keep him. I have seen him miss so many chances, he's not a poacher or a natural finisher.

I wanted us to get Demba Ba at the end of last season, plus he was available for pittance. Now he's going to cost the best part of £15m to prise away from Newcastle. He's a natural scorer & the type of player that we need but will probably be too costly now.

I can't see why Abramovich doesn't just go the whole hog and just appoint a team of coaches to take training and leaves the buying the players and picking the team to him. He questioned the team in Napoli apparently after some senior players were left on the bench. Sure the result was terrible but why hire the guy in the first place?

Arsenal something something.

What's this Giroud like? He's currently tearing the place up in France and there is some sort of clause which could mean he's available for €15m? Although I think it's worth being cautious of players with one good season in France under their belt. What was that other strikers name? Gignac? He's currently playing for Marseille's reserves.

I really like Giroud, he's actually quite like Gignac in that he's big, strong, and good in the air as well as with his feet. Quicker than Gignac though. Montpellier have a couple of decent players that are probably worth looking at. Or you could get Martin from Sochaux dirt cheap as they look doomed.

He's looked pretty good from what I've seen of him, but I haven't watched him that much to be honest.

Podolski seems like he might be the right kind of signing anyway as it seems he can play not just as a striker but on the wing too, so if Van Persie is fit he can still fit into the team.

A French attacking midfielder with potential? Sounds perfect. Does he happen to have any niggly injuries that could keep him out for at least 9 months of a season?

EDIT: In reply to Sirloin. Obv.

Oh man forgot about Marvin Martin. I don't care what he is like, just sign him for the awesome name.

Judging by Ohguhazhananzan Yoghurtcup's twitter it seems as though he's playing tomorrow night. Is Wenger gonna concede the tie and play the kids? On one hand it makes sense to protect the first team but on another hand it kills the momentum built up over the last couple of weeks. That and I'm not sure that the Gooners going tomorrow will want to pay £50+ to see Benik Afobe and Craig Eastmond get torn a new one by Milan.

It'll be more interesting being kids and it'll make winning all the sweeter. Ahem.

But the interesting bit is true, not sure about whether I'd appreciate interesting if I was buying a ticket though. I don't know if it'd be the right decision though - fitness wise, obviously it's a great plan but every time we put the kids in something then lose it seems to have as much effect on performances as the first team losing. When we're doing well, that'd be gutting giving up the run without trying.

Personally I'd stick on all the fastest players we've got, Walcott up front and just tell them to go for it. That's the only thing that might shake Milan up a bit.
