Tracer's Slightly Advanced Cs Tactics

Flams

Without a helmet, M4 headshots only do about 105 dmg, so with one it'd do less than 100. Especially when silenced.

Knife is definitly faster than pistols, not sure about grenades. But if you want real speed, run with the scout, thats the fastest :)

Somethings thats baffled me is how the M4 performs compared to in old CS

in old CS I'd always have the M4 unsilenced, the gun is more accurate over long range with a few bursts (like the AK), and I'd only use it silenced at close range for the obvious reasons.

if silenced the redicle would be bigger meaning less accuracy, and in many cases it really showed over long range.

in CS source, they basically seem to act exactly the same either silenced or not over long or close range. Anyone agree with me or do you think it acts like it used to?

yeah I agree, it used to be silencer = less power/accuracy but quieter, but now it seems they are the same. I just use silencer unless I pick up an m4 mid fight.

even over long distances it seems the same, maybe even....better....

hmm maybe it's different, I'm not sure then. I do know that now I get alot more spraying headshots. most of my kills are spraying with m4 silenced, and half seem to be headshots, dunno why....

It may be slighltly out of date but this handy damage calculator for CS1.6 should be close enough to provide the damage stats for CS:S. Colt is one shot kill at the head.

Also as far as is running with a knife, pistol or gren fastest, ask yourself which would be more usefull if an enemy rounds the corner. It'll take too long to switch to primary so best to be holding something that can shoot bullets and not peel an apple.

As ever, Monkey's logic is like a left-hook to the chin of stupidity.

M4 silenced is more accurate (quicker recovery), the sound is much quieter and travels a much shorter distance. On the down side, it's less powerful.

That's basically what I've always been told, I always silence my M4, but never my USP, figuring if I need to use that I'm going to need to do as much dmg as possible, screw staying hidden.

Yeah, a silenced M4 is aces when the whole enemy team is in a confined location, not watching their backs. Like in the tunnel bits in cbble, where the Ts make a rush for B. If they can be held in the tunnel, a single person with a silenced M4 can sometimes take out the whole team.

Not sure if this counts as a "Slightly Advanced Cs Tactic", but keeping your cool when using an AK is vital if you use it. It is sometimes all too easy just to hold down the trigger and then your hopes of winning a firefight decrease dramatically. I myself have been guilty of this, coming up behind someone and just spraying with the AK, they turn and kill me, I'm amazed to find out that I've only hit them once, if at all. Always burst unless they're literally on top of you, the M4 is of course much better at spraying in mid to close range.

Fire single shots. Even I get kills doing that with the AK, just most of the time I forget. Once you fire a burst most often the 2nd and 3rd shot are wildly off. :)

Yes, just tap the fire button. Not too rapidly, but about twice every second. At long range, the AK can be fucking devastating if you do this.
