When has one of these leaked pictures, actually been true?

last year, when someone formulated the URL for a "live webcast" that was pre-recorded and viewed BEFORE the official announcement.

can't remember what for though... :(

It could be real.

I mean, I can imagine them [the 2 parts of the controller] with motion sensors in them or something. So you have to use your arms in the game. You know, kind of like waving a plane in or catching a ball, fighting games, racing games, baseball games etc. If you add to that an extreemely advanced force feedback (individual areas, not just the whole pad) and you could end up with something quite impressive.

If something like that was done very well, it might end up being revolutionary. Although, there's a far higher chance it would end up more gimmicky than revolutionary.

Sounds interesting but it's pure fantasy. Nintendo's new console is going to be CHEAP, a lot cheaper then the competition. I think if you want to look at the controller look to the technology in the DS. I think a touch screen on the pad is far more likely.

The controller's going to be gyroscopic in some way. Why would Nintendo have bought a big chunk of a "motion-sensing controllers" company at the time when they had to start thinking about the Gamecube's successor?

http://www.gyration.com/intl/uk/pr-nintendo_uk.htm

Asplit design would make sense - just add a cradle which charges both components. Imagine an FPS where you aim your gun by pointing with one controller, while the other handles all movement.

Mind you, Gyration has since been bought by Thomson. But that doesn't mean Nintendo didn't license their technology, or use a different approach to do the same sort of thing. And if Thomson are going to put this technology in remote controls, it must be cheap enough to go in a console.

Why? Why is everyone so afraid of change?

It seems that only Nintendo could be lambasted for attempting to push the interaction envelope. If Sony or MS did this I'm sure they'd be hailed as fucking heros.

But no :) Mind you, everyone scoffed at the DS until they actually had it in their hands and now it's a roaring success. I look forward to the haters and doubters being proven wrong.

Wait, that has got to be shit. It specifically mentions a touch screen which Iwat has said time and time again will not be a part of the revolution controller. It also mentions a memory slot, which would be bizarre given the current rev design already has SD card slots built into the machine itself as well as on board flash memory.

Its not the change that I or other people are afraid of, its the fact that if the revolution's new ideas are gyroscopes and downloadable back catalogue then it doesn't introduce much in the way of new ideas. Never mind revolutionary.

Alright, supposing this is true (and I'm willing to bet it's not) what the fuck would it take to impress people?  It seems the internet community has far better ideas than Nintendo which they are all too happy to keep to themselves, lets hear them!

Nintendo have hyped this Revolution beyond belief. Of course it's now going to take something really special.

No, what has happened is the all the proles and fanboys have taken it upon themselves to hype this to death and make up unrealistic assumptions and expectations which will inevitably lead to dissapointment. Some of my favourite bullshit stories so far:

1.) Revolution will not be as powerful or as graphically capable as the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Nintendo have said NOTHING to suggest this. This is more like wishful thinking on the part of the haterz.

2.) Classic game downloads to be free.

How the hell anyone could believe this is beyond me, again, a stupid rumour that had no basis in reality gets out of hand and people are actually, genuinely surprised when it turns out not to be true.

3.) Revolution will incorparate gyro and touch screen technology into it's controller.

The gyro stuff I can believe as Nintendo have already incorparated this tech into their GBA games, however, the touch screen has been disproven time and time again (and why would they need it anyway, if Nintendo wanted to incorparate a touch screen into a revolution title, they can use the DS for that :) )

If I sound pissed off it is because I am tired of all the bullshit rumours, outright lies and disinformation being spread regarding the Revolution (and Nintendo in general) right now. I will wait until I see actual playable software running on actual hardware until I make any kind of judgement call.

Hmmm, look at the negative spin gamesradar.MSN.co.uk puts on the Revolution:

[NGC] Mario 128 'still floating around'

[NGC] 'Revolutionary' controller not even finished

[NGC] Revolution downloads not free after all

I wonder why. MSN. Hmmm....

Yes, I love the fact that if there is a negative Nintendo story to be told, the media is more than happy to present bullshit as fact. "No revolution until 2007" indeed :)

:P Theyve had some crappy headlines lately allthough they even had one where the title suggested the mgs series was coming to the xbox 360. So I think its more a case of sun style headlines but mabye the msn thing does play an influence.
