Later... Was Ace This Evening

Beck is one of the greatest live performers I've seen. That "Clap Hands" with the dinner table as a central instrument was just genius.

I saw him when he was touring Odelay - it looks like his group has changed quite a bit since then.

I saw him in Hammersmith Apollo last week and they did that as well. It's a very clever way of taking the po-facedness out of an acoustic bit in a gig.

It might have been that I was on a few too many drugs last night but does since when has Jools Holland looked that haggard? His face looked like it was going to drop off...

later is great, jules holland is an annoying toad, beck is great and the table thing was patently gay.

all he needed was a fisher price drums kit and the acoustic guitar for that clap hands song, instead of this cringe worthy foolishness, at least that would have been cool and subversive in an ironic way.

Fuck right off. She's normal sized.  And talented.  And probably goes like a train, which will do for me.

Where's the talent? Trying to get herself and her freshly-waxed-chest "rugby star" of a boyfriend in OK every week?

Nah, I'm sorry.

Fat talentless slag.

They were excellent, their first live performance apparently. I'll definitely be looking out for them in the near future.

reminded me a bit off the late Freddie Mercury ? their 'mini' album is out in Aug. i shall definitely be checking the guy out live. amazing voice.

The last best Later... I saw was at the start of the year or a little bit before when they had Green Day, Elvis Costello and Estelle on the show. They even had Simon Jones and another Clash member (can't remember which one, argh!) on for a little interview and this is where I think Jools loses everytime. He can't interview anyone out of a plastic carrier bag. Only other downside to that show was that they had Robbie Williams on. :/

But that was the best mix of music I had seen for a while. To me, the perfect line up on Later... would be:

Bloc Party

The Subways

The Streets (I have respect for Mike Skinner as he is fantastic live)

Beastie Boys

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (only do tunes from B.R.M.C. album)

That would be a fantastic show!!

Let me add the words "Rich Bitch" to the argument.

Her latest single is fucking woeful. Something which has crawled from the mire of terrible 80's tunes.

Later though, was indeed great. A nice selection of well-known bands and musicians, and unknowns which you wonder why they're actually unknown when they're so fantastic. Jools is also the saviour of lonely people on New Year's Eve, bless.

I agree, she is rubbish nowadays. But before this pop career, she had a prettygood voice though!
