So...I'll be over tommorow then?

Cool. ;)

If we hadn't only just got back from family visits you'd have been most welcome. It's a great game but you'll be pleased to hear that I'm shit/10 at it. I'll stick to Ouendan I think. Totally mesmerising to watch and fun to see Moosey get all excited everytime it says "You Rock!" at the end of the level. I think he truly believes the game just means him.

Bless 'im ;)

Does anyone else get an optical illusion after playing a particularly long track that makes it appear as though their TV is floating upwards?

It's like that trick with the black/white spiral pinwheel - you stare at the centre whilst it spins for 30 seconds and then stare at the back of your hand and it looks like your flesh is stretching and squriming. With GH we reckon it's the same principal and the scrolling fret bar must be what does it.

Does anyone else get this? It happens to both of us although we are using 42" and 40" TV's to play it on. Is it just a big TV phenomenon?

The more I plough through Hard & Expert the more I seem to notice this wierd optical illusion. It seems that the harder/longer I focus intently on the scrolling fret bar whizzing down the screen whilst playing the more likely it is that when the song ends the TV will appear to be rising upwards. It's definitely more noticeable on the longer tracks like Smoke on the Water.

It doesn't detract from the game (in fact it's quite entertaining in a "whoa" sort of way) but it's a bit odd. I've never had this effect from other games that use a similar scrolling GUI, but then I suppose I play all most of those sitting down with a controller and not standing up posing with a plastic axe.

Yep, it happens. Shouldnt imagine it would damage your eyesight as long as you dont play for hours on end.

Just got onto hard and fuck me its a doozy. Cowboys From Hell and Bark At The Moon are cunts on normal, ne mind hard :(

;)

I'm certainly not worried about my eyesight, if anything it's my hearing that's knackered (and playing GH at 11 won't help). It was a bit of a shock the first time it happened though as I nearly fell arse over tit because of the disorientation. It's much more likely that I'll trip over and crack my head open as a result of a GH induced hallucination, it's bound to happen sooner or later as I'm a clumsy oaf at the best of times.

I struggled badly with Hard initially but after giving it a break to 5 star everything on Normal it suddenly just clicked. I'm currently stuck on Crossroads on Hard, I get 80% of the way but there's a really horrible orange/blue, 1/2 string of combos that fucks me up every time :(

It's going down tonight though, oh yes :D

Of course I play for hours on end, I wouldn't be much of a hard livin' Rock God if I abided by the epilepsy warnings and took a break for 15 minutes every hour. Even when I've decided to stop playing I still end up having at least three "last goes".

Aye, I've had this happen on frequency as well, the first time I ever noticed it was after watching the credits for Final Fantasy 7 - similar cause, text moving upwards for 15 minutes or whatever it is. I actually made a little basic program that made a bunch of horizontal lines scroll up screen forever and that made it happen too ;)

I'm also on the lookout for anywhere pre-ordering for the PAL version - will Game take them instore rather than online?

Yeah, GH is the worst/best game ever for that 'just one more go' thing. I go to have a quick shot and end up playing for an hour.

;)

Every time it's the same;

"Oh, one more go on Texas Flood and I'll call it a night" ...

"I suppose I ought to have a quick blast on Ace of Spades too" ....

"Ah hell, one more Iron Man for the road then" ....

etc. etc.

Addictive as you like.

For me it'll be Texas Flood then a quick go on Crossroads and then I might as well do Spanish Castle Magic and oh fuck it lets have another go on Bark at the Moon. It's having a knock on effect on my real guitar playing too. Hadn't played for ages but I've been playing every day recently. I'm getting right back into it. Only problem is now I'm hankering after some serious shredder style guitar. I need 24 fat frets and a whammy bar.

THE 'POP ARE IN THIS TOO? WHY WASN'T I INFORMED? WHY THE HELL ISN'T IT OUT HERE YET?

I DEMAND JUSTICE!

Grrr. Giev!

Yup, 'Get Ready 2 Rokk' is in there as one of the unlockable bonus tracks. I reckon it sounds better than the album version too! ;)

Hooray, my extra Cherry SG turned up today. It was quite quick considering the horror stories I've read elsewhere about Red Octane's delivery times. It's soooo nice to use a pristine strum bar again :o

Looking forward to some 2 player axe showdowns tomorrow night.

None of my friends have the inclination to play this type of game so I don't need another guitar.

Get some new friends ..... and an extra SG :)
