Two favs for me have to be when Han is chasing that storm trooper in a nwe hope and he runs into a room with hundreds of them. Cueing a run back the wya whilst being chased and shot at.

Also the bit where Han come flying back at the end battle of A New Hope and shoots at the ties surrounding Darth's.

Han was a much better character than Luke.

I love the scene where Lando betrays them on Cloud City. Vader looks so complacent and totally evil. When I originally watched it as a kid I didn't expect it and I was really angry with Lando, 'cos he was so cool up 'til then. And then Han fires the blaster and you feel how intense Vader's powers are.

I loved the bit in A New Hope, where they goto rescue Leia, and after initial entry to the cell blocks, Han talks to the officer on the intercom:

"Everything's under control, situation normal"

"What happened?"

"Had a slight weapons malfunction, but everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine, we're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?"

"We're sending a squad up"

"Ah, negative, negative,we have a reactor leak here now. Give us a few minutes to lock it down. Large leak, very dangerous"

"Who is this? What's your operating number?"

*Blam*

"Boring conversation anyway. Luke! We're gonna have company!"

It was a great piece of acting from Ford, and some fantastic humour following a tense gun fight. Brilliantly paced and placed.

Then of course Luke enters Leia's room, and she pulls out an immortal line...

That whole sequence for me was fantastic. Another fight, the escape into the garbage...then THAT bit is good too!

Yes, Han Solo. Best Star Wars character ever.

Solo is great, because for all his bravado, you know sometimes he just manages to cock things up

Han and Leia in Empire - the asteroid shifts and she falls into his lap

"Don't get excited, sweetheart."

"Captain, being held by you isn't ~quite~ enough to get me excited".

"Sorry sweetheart "

(filthy grin)

"We don't have time for anything else"

I’ve just finished watching Ep.II so I’m going to add my new favourite scene: the coliseum rescue scene.

Count Dooku to Windu “you’re outnumbered”, then cut to dozens of Jedi charging into thousands of droids, love it. And just when it can’t get any better Yoda turns up with an army of storm-troopers to rain death from the skies. Amazing stuff.

I’d forgotten how good episode II was.

Dexter's Diner.

The ewok finding his dead chum.

"Master Quai-gon, what are midichlorians?"

The extended music performance in Jabba's Palace in ROTJ.

"..a master of evil, Darth."

Anakin's dream. About his mum.

Any bit with C3PO. Especially the bit where his head gets swapped in AOTC, that's my favourite.

"Meesa Jar-Jar Binks!"

When I saw that at the cinema I almost wet myself. I was quite literally out of my seat in excitement.

I hope you had the script in front of you there and you hadnt learnt that off by heart

One great bit in Jedi is as Anakin is taking off his helmet to talk to Luke. You see this shrivelled old figure, the complete opposite of the crazy powerful Vader. And he talks to Luke with so much pain and regret in his voice, and just faintly in the background you can hear the hushed chords of the Imperial March, except it sounds so slow and sad. The whole effect of what you've just seen, then that little tune, so different from the powerful music you'd heard it in previously.

That scene was perfect

A couple of people have mentioned the scene in Star Wars (A new hope if you insist) where Han solo chases the Storm troopers and is then chased by a much larger nunmber. So much worse than the original version where its the same storm troopers but they suddenly realise that they vastly outnumber him and decide to turn around.

Anyway my best moments

ANH The original Greedo killing. Totally set Han up as a badass but certainly not evil lets face it that was the only way he was gonna survive.

Empire Yoda "I cannot train him" The way this freaky forest dwelling comedy dwarf instantly changed into the all powerful 900 year old ultimate Jedi master yoda. Fantastic work from Frank Oz

Luke V Vader, Luke is starting to hold his own while its purley lightsabre action and even look like he might win this one. Then Vader starts force throwing everything at him and with a quick music change by mr Williams you realise he hasnt got a hope in hell

Phantom Menace.

A blast of familiar music and a large Star Wars comes up on the screen and your Watching a new Star Wars film again for the first time in 15 odd years....pity about the film.

Attack of the Clones.

I have never been in a cinema with an atmosphere quite as electric as when yoda pulled out his lightsabre

I love the third part of that duel in ESB, where Luke walks into that dark room slowly up to camera, stands there for a second or two, senses something, and JUST manages to get his lightsabre on before Vader chops him into little tiny pieces. Vader is notably way way way more aggressive in the third part of the duel, and you really get the sense that Luke is fucked.

Best part of the lot for me (and it's tough cos Darth Maul r00lz) but the shot of the Falcon with the TIEs and Star Destroyer right behind that immediately follows Luke heading to Dagobah is still my fave. Closely followed by the scene a few seconds later where Han says "We can still outmanouver 'em" and the Falcon dips like a rollercoaster inside the cockpit - just class.

I can't stand that scene. There's this Jedi who looks like the dancer from Jabba's palace who looks so utterly unconvincing waving her saber about, like she's part of some community theatre group. Clearly couldn't handle the blue screen. And the fight itself ... makes the Jedi look so lame.

I love the asteroid belt chase, with that music. Fantastic. Ep II's attempt at similar was rubbish compared to that!

Plus... the CGI has aged really badly. It looks like a videogame. One of the things I'm most looking forward to about Ep III is that the FX look more realistic and less cartoony. Hate to think what Ep I looks like now, I'm going to be watching it at the weekend. This is the main problem with Lucas's passion for technology, the prequels are already ageing really badly compared to the first 3 films.

I love the asteroid chase too, but it's the scene I described that gets me every time - the little Falcon pursued by the ties and that fucking massive star destroyer such a short shot but it's still the best space shot in the whole series IMO.

The special editions will fix anything that's aged ;)

Actually, that's only a half-wink. They've already replaced the puppet yoda in TPM with CGI for the film's next release

That was their "Episode 2 test" wasn't it, to see if they could do the EP II Yoda in CG? That will already have aged badly then.

If Lucas really wants to fix the films, he should redo every single FX shot in the original trilogy, every single shot in Ep I and a vast number in Ep II. Otherwise his limited tinkering really won't have the desired effect. While he's at it, he can make the Ep I duel longer!!
