Oh actually, the very end of the Luke/Vader fight where Luke just totally loses it. I love that bit.

If I can name just one scene this would be the one. It's incredibly powerful, in no small part thanks to John Williams' fantastic music.

Its an amazing scene, and as the blows reign down your feelings towards Vader have totally turned, and you now feel total pity for him.

I still feel like breaking into a applause when his turn from the darkside is complete and he picks up the Emperor, throwing him to his death!

I got a bit teary-eyed last time I watched Jedi and got to the bit where Vader is all fucked up and wheezing, and he asks Luke to remove his helmet to he can see him with his own eyes.

These are some of my fave bits off the top off my head:

Empire: when Luke and Han are missing and they have to close the door. Artoo with his little radar and Chewie's growl as the door slams shut. Aww.

Empire: Basically all the bits with Vader commanding the Executor. He really is the ultimate badass in that film. "Apology accepted, Captain Needa."

Empire: when Han and Leia finally kiss on the Falcon, and Threepio runs in shouting "sir sir!" and furiously tapping Han on the shoulder. Cracked me up last time I watched it.

Empire: the bit where Han stumbles out of the torture chamber and says "They didn't even ask me any questions."

Empire: The I am your father bit. Bit obvious, that one ;)

Empire: final scene before the credits kick in. Best scene ever with the best music ever!

Jedi: that droid getting his feet branded in Jabba's palace. Or is that in A New Hope? ;)

Jedi: Rebel fleet going into hyperspace

Jedi: Scene between Vader and Luke where he says "I see you have constructed a new lightsaber. Obi Wan has taught you well." The first time you see Vader being swayed slightly away from the dark side.

Jedi: The whole of the battle above Endor. "How can they be jamming us if they don't know....we're....coming....."

Jedi: The whole end of the lightsaber battle, Vader's death.

Question: why does the Emperor keep referring to Endor as "the century moon?"

Isnt it "sentry moon of Endor". I just always took it to mean that it cirlced Endor and they used it as a lookout outpost, or something ;)

When the Falcon engages 5 million* TIE fighters at the battle of the second Death Star above Endor.

*may not have actually been 5 million

Its the best space fight EVER! I can't think of a space battle in any movie so far thats topped it. Though I am hoping ROTS will...

Worst. Scene. Ever.

That cowardly bitch Skywalker fucking my man Palps up the ass like that. Real fucking brave and heroic, sneak attacking an old man that way.

My vote is a tie between the GREATEST SCENE OF ALL TIME where Yoda raises the X-Wing and it's a brilliant combination of visuals and John Williams at the top of his game, and the delicious moment where Palpatine shows everyone why Yoda warned Luke about him so.

'If you will not be turned...'

ohhh soo may.

Yoda lifting the X Wing in Swamp

Lukes first encounter with Yoda, R2 being poked by Yoda... Hilerious

Anakin in AOTC busts out his lightsaber and massacres the sandmen

"Death sticks? You want some deathsticks?"

Luke vs Vade in ROTJ

Loads of Ewan McGregor moments in the prequals. The fight with Maul. and just being a cold hearted Jedi, "Dont tell me we've picked up another mindless being" or somthing like that.

Yoda Dooku fight

Best of all - Darth Sidious mainpulating Luke to the Dark Side. Sitting there, delivering unbelivable lines.Vader Standing by his side, Rebels being crushed in the distance, Luke getting owned left right and center.

Loads

So Endor is mentioned in ROTS?  Will that require a major spiler to explain its significance?

No, sorry - With the new ROTS Sountrack CD you get a DVD featuring 15 classic Williams Star Wars pieces of music set to images from the movies. Ian McDiarmid introduces each piece. In the bit where he introduces the final battle of Endor bit, he very clearly says 'The Sanctuary moon of endor'

E.II

The scenes between Padmae (sp??) and Anakin. I think I’m the only person who likes these scenes.

Really? I thought those scenes were the weakest in the whole film. They were badly acted and just generally rubbish.

Our first glimpse into the powers of a jedi via the calm tones and elegant sway of a hand from McGuiness in ANH.

"These are not the droids you are looking for"

obi_28.jpg

EDIT: Just realised I have subliminally nicked that and virtually paraphrased it from Empire itself! Even still, its still a great scene B)

TPM:when the doors open with maul standing there and the duel of fates music kicking in.

AOTC:When anakin leaves to find his mother he turns towards padme and his shadow becomes the shadow of vader against the wall.

ANH:when luke Stands above the farm looking at the suns and u get to hear that awesome williams score just kick in.

ESB:when luke comes to the carbon freezing chamber and you hear that excellent line "the force is with you young skywalker, but you are not a jedi yet!"

ROTJ:Luke cutting loose on vader.

Yeah I had to stop myself doing that as well, especially for the Luke/Vader scene on Endor.

Another one: when the Falcon disappears into hyperspace at the end of Empire right before Vader's eyes. He just stands there for a bit then strides off without even bothering to kill anyone.

Imagine if he had stood there for a bit, then started stamping his foot and saying, "shit. SHIT!" Would have been hilarious ;)

Best scene in the starwars films is quite easily IMO when luke comes to the carbon freezing chamber and you hear that excellent line "the force is with you young skywalker, but you are not a jedi yet!"

"All too easy."

*BOING!*

I love all the Luke-Yoda stuff in the swamp.

"All right, I'll give it a try."

"No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try"

"I won't fail you. I'm not afraid."

"You will be. You will be"

Genius! ;)

Ep IV:

The opening scene. The first scene of the first film I ever saw at the cinema.

Darth Vader's entrance.

Shoot-out with the stormtroopers at Mos Eisley.

The final TIE fighter that is destroyed by Han on the Millenium Falcon. The best space explosion I've ever seen. Just so beautiful.

The final award ceremony. John Williams music rising to a fantastic crescendo as the end credits kick in.

Ep V:

Opening tracking shot of Luke on his Tauntaun.

Chewie's howl of frustration as the blast doors close with Han still out in the cold.

AT-AT assault on Hoth.

The closing scene with Luke, Leia and the droids on the medical frigate watching Lando and Chewie leave to find Han.

Ep VI:

Leia's reprise of the "I love you"/"I know" exchange during the Endor battle.

The rapid pullback of the Falcon through the Death Star's core just after Lando has blown up the central power generator. The dramatic music and stunning visuals complement each other beautifully.

The shield explosion on Endor. Wow!

The closing scene with the music building up to the end credits. Now spoiled in the new versions though.

Ep I:

Darth Maul.

The best light sabre fights seen so far.

Qui-Gon driving his light sabre into the doors. Never seen the real power of a light sabre until then.

The pod race sound design. Loved the addition of a Doppler effect on the pods as they whizzed past.

Ep II:

The sonic charges in the asteroids. The delay between the explosion and sound was a great touch.

Annakin's face when his mother has just died. You can begin to see the change in him.

Seeing the precursors to the Star Destroyers at the end.

Ace.

Yeah, the final fight with Darth rules. Especially when Vader shouts "not today, COCKFAG!" and throws his sabre at Palpatine, chopping his head right off. Then he takes off his helmet, high-fives Luke, and they go off for some beers.

Well, okay, that was what I wanted to happen first time I saw Jedi, but it's nowhere near as good as Vader's final return to the light.

I have to admit I almost did a sex wee when I saw that at the cinema. I was just like "THIS IS STAR WARS."
