Monkeyboy
Play are showing this as in stock now. So are probably shipping today as well. Interesting. I've just ordered it from them. Wonder if I'll get it before the official release date...
Splendid
Mr Stu, it is My First GTA. First impressions suggest that it is worth it, if you want more of the same.

Polmon
.::: Rhythm-action or button-bashing? Rhythmic button-bashing? Anyways, I'm deffo up for getting this soonish (once my pay clears, most likely), it's sounding, from the little drips of inof I've gleaned, that it's pretty sweet, in that Rockstar-got-it-right-again kinda way. My Gameplay preorder now has an estimated dispatch date of between 23/10/2006 and 24/10/2006, which means it'll be sent on Monday. What's going on? pledge
Just played an hour or so and seems pretty good so far. Certainly has that Rockstar humour. The load times are quite long in some places and it is a bit blurry, but overall graphically it is pretty good. Its been a while since I was at school but it somehow feels right. Nate Dogg III
I haven't laughed at a game so much in ages. So many little touches; the dialogue's mostly fantastic and there's lots of unintentional random stuff too. First time I walked into the girl's dorm this girl came running out of one of the rooms, kicked me square in the nuts then ran off. Into Chapter II now and the school gates are open giving access to the town - not sure about that yet as I liked the tight focus the confines of the campus ensured, but we'll see. Noticed what looked suspiciously like a fairground on the horizon earlier. Combat reminds me of Yakuza a bit - quite clunky and worryingly shallow at first but it's starting to open up now. I could shit on about this all afternoon actually. It's just bloody great.

I could shit on about this all afternoon actually. It's just bloody great. "So's your mother" Yeah, it's ace. Lots of kicking-people-in-the-bollocks, and there are just so many opportunities to indulge in creative naughtiness, or just puerile stuff like throwing an apple at a prefect's head and running off. And the occasional bout of utter randomness does provide belly laughs - like kissing a girl while some kid kicks something to bits in the background, or a nerd running full pelt away from a fight with arms flailing. Nick_L
Played this loads over the weekend, its great! Seemed to have made pretty rapid progress, im already onto chapter 3. It different to GTA in that yuo dont seems to spend hours just messing about not really doing anything, you always in a mission, or heading to a mission, or going to class etc Maybe im just not exploring enough! I'm realyl enjoying the missions tho, I've not come across one yet thats really frustrating in a GTA style, some have been a bit tricky, but none where I have been repeatadly failing. Monkeyboy
Looking at the videos, the combat looks identical to The Warriors (although, I'm guessing with less ultraviolent finishing moves). Is this true for those who've played both? As I enjoyed the rumbles in Warriors immensely.
pledge
I only played the The Warriors breifly but it seems pretty similar to me. One niggle so far is that it seems impossible to be at class on time as you are never told where to go before the bell. So you are constantly playing truant even when you are trying to be good. It opening up into town hasn't effected the storyline too much. I think it would have been too restrictive to keep the whole game in the gounds. Although there being no weekends is a bit strange when there is a whole town to go to. If you go during the day then it is like playing GTA and always having a 2 star rating. Saying that punching a cop and then have half a dozen of them chasing you on cars and motor bikes with you on a pedal bike is just super fantastic. Splendid
IDGI BULLIES R GAYLOL. By which I mean, Rockstar seems to have taken an extremely liberal view of sexuality, despite being the controversial thorn in gaming's side. What other games don't depict homosexuals as wooly woofters or outrageous queens? Two, three maybe tops. The Orion Conspiracy was years ago though. Good on Rockstar.
