Rockstar Games Announces Bully

New York, NY- May 9, 2005 - Rockstar Games, the world-renowned publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) is proud to announce Bully for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and Xbox® video game system from Microsoft. Bully takes the Rockstar tradition of groundbreaking, innovative, original gameplay and humorous tongue-in-cheek storytelling to an entirely new setting: the schoolyard. Bully is the brutally funny debut title from Rockstar Vancouver and is expected to hit retail shelves in October 2005. Bully will be shown behind closed doors in the Rockstar booth at E3 (324 South Hall).

"We are really excited about the first title to be developed by our Rockstar Vancouver studio," said Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games. "We fought hard to keep this title under wraps for ages and I am thrilled that we can finally unveil it to people at E3."

As a troublesome schoolboy, you'll laugh and cringe as you stand up to bullies, get picked on by teachers, play pranks on malicious kids, win or lose the girl, and ultimately learn to navigate the obstacles of the fictitious reform school, Bullworth Academy.

It has potential I guess, but it still sounds a bit of a departure from what we're used to with Rockstar. Who are Rockstar Vancouver, anyway?

(edit) And should I have put this over in the E3 folder? ;)

.::: Rockstar like to walk the thin line eh? Although as a concept it sounds good, it is destined to be even more controversial than GTA and Manhunt. Especially if you can BECOME a bully.

Um, isn't that the same thing?

More or less, but I was being more specific for the incidents in American schools recently - kids walking into their classroom, shooting their teacher and classmates, then leaving. Not really running around the school per se.

Can you imagine the 'Copycat Potential' bandwagon the media would be grappling to jump on?

sounds interesting but i'm sure it will be a much more lighthearted affair than expected from Rockstar. it will also be interesting to see what another team other than North can come up with.

i'm still looking forward to The Warriors more but there hasn't been any word about that for ages.

Hmm.

Well.

I can't think of a way to make this kinda genre exciting to play (skool daze aside - i was about 11 when that came out).

I'd be very intrested to see what it involves, given that i'm now 32.

The Warriors might be good though. I'm not sure if they're sticking the to the campness of the movie, or making something altogether more hardcore.

It sounds a bit like GTA for kids.

Instead of planting bombs in a crack factory you'll be sneaking into the kitchen and jizzing in the soup.

Where do I sign up?

Will it be better than?

It does sound like it could be a controverse'em up which Rockstar love so well, but at the same time it's got every chance of rekindling what Skool Daze did so well; renaming of the key characters (now you finally get a chance to grope that girl you so wanted to).

God, what a bunch of cynics.

Vaguely original game concept and it's all the "Oh - Little Computer People. That's was fine when I was 10 on the spectrum, but isn't going to cut it now" we saw circa 2000 and a certain Maxis release.

Yeah, except that the game would be copying the kids. Naughty kids, ban 'em all I say!
