What Are You Playing?

All the E3 shenanigans have rekindled my interest in gaming. I've rediscovered my SP and Advance Wars (which I shamefuly never played past the first mission). Been caning it for the past couple of days and it's AMAZING! :(

GBA: Advance Wars 1 and Wario Ware.

Xbox: Rayman 3 having finished Stranger and wanting something to play on. When I finish that I'll go back to Beyond Good and Evil which I bought but never got round to playing. Also playing Pro Ev 4 off and on.

Youthgroup: kids are addicted to Singstar popworld which is always good for a laugh.

Gamecube: Ikarumba.

Hmm think that's it. With a list like that wouldn;t believe that I'm busy out of my skull would you... It's all *ahem* research...

I finally broke my FFXI addiction this weekend, only to replace it with my old FM 2005 addiction though. I've also started playing PGR2 again which I had forgotten how good it is. May venture back online with that later on when I know I'm not going to crash and take everyone out in the first corner. Gone back to Halo 2 aswell to find there are actually some fun levels in the game.

What? WHAT?!

I really hope you mean you're only playing it for 10 hours a day as opposed to 12.

Psychonauts - One of the 5 best platformers this gen for me. Way better than mario sunshine. So amazingly inventive.

Halo 2 - Custom games only, but always and forever.

Forza - Its been a long time since i was this shit at a game.

Splinter Cell chaos theory - Ive managed to do 7 single player levels and 1 co op level. Wanted to do some online vs but it never happened. But like all splinter cell games, I WILL complete it.

Jungle fever - Ive done 3 levels. This really deserves more commitment.

Resi 4 - but missed the lab notes explaining how to get rid of the regenerators so need to go back and redo the last chapter so i actually have some ammo for the set-piece on the truck. i HATE going back and doing levels again so I fear I may keep putting it off.

FIFA PSP - and enjoying it too.

Nintendogs - starting to get a little dull. there's only so much you can do without japanese.

recent ebay purchases of Pilotwings and Mario Kart (with Parodius and Area 88 on the way ;)) have meant that the SNES is seeing a fair bit of play as well.

I've just started Oddworld which I got two days ago - really liking the look of that.

Also playing F:Zero GX a bit, but can't get into it at all.

STILL waiting for World of Warcraft to be sent to me. Bought a copy in New York in February, was assured it would work here, but oh no. Waiting for a replacement now.

Bit of GTA: SA now and then, but for all its features it's not sustaining my interest for some reason. Think it just takes too long to get everywhere so I get bored, drive way too fast and end up crashing loads, fighting and blowing stuff up and getting killed. Every time. No discipline.

It probably isn't worth starting a new topic on this but man, did I play some games last night  Mostly 'cos I didn't know what to play, heh.

Forza, check. Finished off the 400hp-class in the level 10 events using my Mugen Honda S2000 prize car. Tasty.

Riddick. In the mines now although I'm not sure I'm doing it right; no gun, lots of riot bots everywhere. I'm having to, ahem, stealth it everywhere. Stealth == me getting spotted and running to the next door way like a little girl. "You? Almost had me?!"... oops, wrong film Mr. Diesel.

OTOGI. So, I never got anywhere in this. I'm back onto L3, with some jumpy platforms bits, some boss or other. The one afters the mirrors. I dunno, it still looks as though I should be able to chain millions of hits together but the dodgy camera means you're not seeing all the bad guys, bad guys that might just attempt to hit you and because you don't see it, you don't "dodge" and you get hit. Hard. Not that I died or anything, just played it for 20 minutes or so 'cos I'm on a plasma and that health bar sure is bright :o Interesting to note that it doesn't completely fill the screen like most other Xbox games. Never noticed that before. It's like 480p on the GC/PS2, which does the same.

Xbox Live Arcade. Checked out the Mutant Storm demo (and a few others). Looks nice in 720p although it doesn't match the resolution my PC spits out. 'cos my PC is hooked up to my TV, it's even better and directly comparable  A lot of the games (well, all the ones I tried) run in 720p too, which is very cool. Not a fan of the dual-stick control though, it isn't as accurate as the joystick/mouse combo on the PC; that really does work very well indeed. £7.50 is bonkers though, fuck that.

F-Zero GX. Mind blowing, simple as that.

OK, you can wake up now.

Yeah, that's cool. Not everyone clicks with it and it can be very unforgiving 'cos of the twitchy (i.e. crap) controls, almost way too much information to process on screen. The missus can't handle it either and she's a ninja at FZX

I guess mind blowing could be taken either way, heh.

Aye, I always thought they felt weird. We drove with the analogue stick on F-Zero X, but that still felt precise (or precise enough). GX is just weird, I win races by just kind of cruising through the levels and trying to be as precise with my movement as possible, and then winning by boosting to the front in the final lap. There's much more strategy in the other F-Zero games.

I still love GX, though.

Well I really haven't given it a fair chance, but I've played a decent amount of 2 player tracks and it's just annoying - hitting the sides is too easy and slows you down too much, then you blow up. Tried a harder track and kept falling off.

I think I prefer racing games of the non-hovering variety. Burnout 2 and 3 were fun.

I felt the controls were great actually, using the analogue shoulders gives you more control and the new L+R turn is really handy on that hairpin on aegiopolis(whatever its called) also it seemed much deeper than f-zero X to me seen as you have tricks like hitting the edge of a boost pad is better and using your boost at the right time after a boost pad you go even faster also the way you can glide really far if you dont change your trajectory.

God its a fucking ace game just too hard and fast for some.
