What Are You Playing?

Then on Sunday I played Pro Evolution 3. I'm struggling at the moment on difficulty setting 3 stars but on 2 stars I walk all over the computer. I need a lot of practice but I'm slowly getting there. I’m starting to hold a lot more possession but always mess up in the final third of the pitch.

My exact problem with this game. On two stars I can run rings round the opposition but I get bummed in the gob on three stars :)

Championship Manager 01/02 - Xbox

My most played game at the moment, playing as Woking in a fantastic league. Don't see why this conversion of the PC classic was hated so much, I think it was ported fantastically, controls are fine, speed is good, and I've not had a single crash in the hundreds of hours I've spent playing (Stability is the most important thing when porting a game such as this).

Pro Evo 4 - Xbox Live

Mainly playing my brother online practising for the league games, but often indulge in a lengthy sessions online against randoms.

Not playing anything else, need a new game really, looking at either World Championship Snooker 2004 or Splinter Cell: PT. (I am a budget gamer, I buy last years games :))

Probably because it's better to just get the PC version. More leagues at a time and faster if you have a decent PC. Which you should have.

Still, aside from that it's the same game at heart.

Do we just keep adding replies to this same thread as the weeks go by? if that's the case...

Jade Empire (xbox)- I expected it to be decent, but not as good as I'm actually finding it. First RPG in ages where I'm finding the side-quests to be truly fun. Combat's great too.

Tales of Symphonia (NGC) - 47 hours in and the fucking thing still won't die. Everyone's level 60+ but there's no real sight of the true end as yet. Thankfully Jade Empire's giving me a nice break away from it, else I'd be scunnered with it by now.

Advance Wars 2 (GBA) - I actually bought this for a tenner second hand so that I could plug up the nasty gap in the front of my DS, but here, is it not quite good to boot. I'm pretty impressed with the depth of it all.

Nothing beats sitting down on a comfy beanbag playing games for long sessions, that's the only reason I've never really been a PC gaming enthusiast.

I was completely addicted to CM 02/03 on the Xbox...

I would spend hours and hours in bed, just playing it, and listening to music...

Loved it!

Final Fantasy XI (still) and when I can't get onto the server Resident Evil 4.

Had to laugh at the bod who a couple of pages back said he was getting a PC soon and would be playing World of Warcraft plus a few other PCs games - obviously new to the complete life takeover ability of MMORPGs then  :P

Pfft. It's not as if I've been hooked on any other online games before.

... :D

I have been playing a lot of Tiger Woods, simply because I have been too tired after work to play anything else!

I have sooooo many games to play, having just bought a PS2...

I bought Ico, Dark Cloud 2, and Freaquency for $10 each...BRAND NEW!

Zelda: Four Swords: Currently playing through this with the lady of the house, normally just a level or so a night. Enjoying this quite a bit – I imagine it must be a laugh riot with four players.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (Xbox): Really enjoyed the first two, but this hasn't really grabbed me as such yet. That said, I'm only just into the second level, so I'm sure it'll pick up soon. I did like the way you can now cut fabric with your knife and sneak into tents.

Lumines: Ridiculously addictive. Easily the best puzzle game I've ever played.

I've just finished and thoroughly enjoyed TimeSplitters 3 story mode.

Am now a couple of hours into God of War and am very impressed, has a beautiful blend of PP:SOT and DMC, lovely!

Also playing lots of Winning Eleven Liveware with the flatmate and surprised that we are playing more and more World Championship Snooker 2005. Normally nothing can pull us away from yet another game of WE, but the Snooker seems to be doing it for the both of us.

Also playing 6 minute Zoo Keeper fan more than I thought I would - gem of a game, just can't stand to play the quest mode!

I've got several on the go at the moment, Jade Empire is probably taking most of my time and really enjoying it too.

Champ Manager 03/04 is also getting a lot of attention, my Liverpool game is now into 2028 and I have a squad of the most talented youngsters i've ever seen in the game. You cant beat bringing in a youngster and seeing him progress into an amazing world talent.

Other than that, i'm dipping in and out of:

Viewtiful Joe 2

Resident Evil 4

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Timesplitters 3

and obviously...

Halo 2 on Live with the new maps

The DS is getting the most play, often in preference over Home (as opposed to Handheld) consoles. Zoo Keeper gets the most attention, closely followed by Yoshi Touch + Go.

Next up would have to be the Cube with Resident Evil 4. By far the best game I've played for years and I never would have touched it if it wasn't for you lot  I've not liked any previous RE titles, but this is aces.

Finally, PS2 for Gran Turismo 4 and FF-X.

Xbox never gets turned on and is up for sale.

Kingdom Hearts:Chain of Memories (GBA) : If I hadn't bought this new I'd mhave chucked it by now. Seriously thinking of selling it after I'm done.

The Bard's Tale (PS2) Bit of a mixed bag this one, suffers in the same way Discworld 2 did in that it points out the logical flaws in game plots and yet forces you to play along regardless. It's a lot less bashy than the BG engine it's based on, the weapon you wield and your choice of summoned creatures can really make a difference in some battles.

Gridrunner ++ (PC demo) I agree with Stu Campbell, I always love at least half of what he does while the other half leaves me cold. Gridrunner ++ is an exellent remix of Gridrunner with the manic style of Llamatron and the visual style of Tempest 2000.

And a couple of days ago played some games with friends. Crazy Taxi was still highly regarded while Wipeout 3 was preferred of F-Zero on the Cube!!

I have been playing:

Strangers Wrath

Mercenaries

Project Snowblind

Republic Commando

Doom 3

Picked these up recently for a quid so have been giving them a spin

Mace Griffine (actually quite good)

Battlestar Galactica (really hard)

Hunter: Redeemer (a bit crap)

Waiting for Lego Starwars and Midnight club 3.

I'm currently playing through Manhunt, Thief 3 and Halo 2. And enjoying all of them, but theif seems a little buggy in places. Particularly loving Halo 2, I'm actually bothered to play the campaign mode in 1 player, unlike the first one, where co-op was the only fun I got out of it. Halo has the best gunfights ever

Right now I've been playing PoP: Warrior Within.

Everyone told me not to expect it to be as good as The Sands of Time but... I dunno, in some ways it's a lot better. The combat is fantastic, and I quite like the whole darker tone to it.

This week I have mostly been playing -

Lego Star Wars (which is just fun)

Contra:Shattered Soldier (which I found in my local Blockbuster today for a tenner after scouring specialist game shops for over a year)

Ace Combat:Distant Thunder (see above)

Today I am suffering shinytechcoma due to having just bought a PSP with Ridge Racers, Wipeout Pure and Lumines, it will take the surgeons a good few days to take the inane grin off my face.

Just battled through Devil May Cry 3, which after swallowing my pride and going with Easy Auto, turned a frustratingly shit experience into a thoroughly excellent one.

Currently polishing off Snowblind, which is simply packed with clever ideas, a real full bodied FPS and one of the most enjoyable of recent times. Grumbles over it's length and difficulty are pretty unfounded too, it's just reasonable in both areas. Anyway, excellent stuff.

Viewtiful Joe 2 had me addicted until the six machine section, which after repeated attempts I'm totally fed up with. Great game, but the difficulty level for this section is spoiling it a bit for me.

Doom 3 - I must be nearing the end of this by now, I've just left Hell, and I'm happy to be back. Everything I wanted it to be, not ground breaking by any means, but a solid edge of the seat action game.

I've also decided to go back through Terminator: Redemption, which has to be one of the most pleasant surprises this gen. Fun from start to finish, lots of novel twists to the plot and gameplay, and some of the most OTT action I've yet seen. Wiping out entire armies of T800's, racing through the outback, fighting atop a Terminator battle cruiser or shaking TX off your hearse, it's all here and it runs smooth as anything.

Yup, I've had a great months gaming
