I gave dark sector a go (filler before tuesday)

and its surprisingly great starts off pretty poorly with the 'krull' glaive, but really improves with all the upgrades and varieties in boss fights

............ but after tuesday, no one will care

Ok, so because of GTA coming out I finally bought a 360. HMV did it for £200 with Mass Effect and Gears of War. I also bought The Orange Box - never played a 360 before, or any of those games so it's been a pretty good weekends gaming I'd say.

Although I've just entered the mines in half life 2 and man, I'm getting real sick of atmospheric horror, I want to shoot a marine in the face while his buddy rappels from the roof and I'm all peow peow.

I'm slowly making my way through Assassin's Creed, and after all the critisim it's recived I'm a little suprised to find I really like it.

Yeah it can be repetitive, but it's not as if those bits actually play badly or anything. The graphics are stunning, the story is intriguing and unexpected, Altair is such a cool character, and even just running around and traversing the world is thoroughly entertaining.

What I don't like is how you get spotted by guards and chased after while on your horse, even if you're walking by like everyone else, though.

I guess my only other gripes are the missed opportunities; where the gameplay mechanics could have been fleshed out a little more, the story arc could have been handles a little better, and also where there could have been more little distractions, minigames, side stories etc. within the cities.

Super Mario World - I started playing this again a few days ago, continuing my attempt to 100% the game without cheating. In order to fuel that goal I'm playing it on the VC so I can't use a emulator and save states to help me out. So far I've opened up everything before the bridge's. Butter Bridge 1's secret exit is bugging me. I know how to do it, I just can't get my Yoshi to the last platform :)

Unreal Tournament 3 - The focus on warfare instead of Deathmatch is getting a little tiresome, especially when the opposing team always has extra team members.

Smash Bros Brawl - Only played for an hour or so, so not very far as yet

Metal Gear Solid 2 - Beaten Fatman

Right, me and you jed- we've got to get through MGS3. An hour a night is all it takes, right? Maybe 20 minutes if we skip the cutscenes.

Right your on only i have devoted tonight to GTA 4, so i will start it tomorrow night and we can motivate each other to get it done before MGS4 come out!

Dont like your idea in skipping the cutscenes im a bit of a sucker for the best film director in the world! ;)

Get to the middle point and kill yourself. Go to the Top Secret House and get your Yoshi and a cape. You shouldn't have any bother then.

SMG - I'm now 5 stars off the 120. Molten Melty Galaxy Daredevil is a pain in the arse

Shiren the Wanderer DS - this is perfect for handhelds and a great introduction to roguelikes if you've never played them

Tactics Ogre (PSone) - about 25 hours in, although 3/4 hours of this were spent levelling up a couple of clerics to ridiculous levels and then another 2/3 hours with all my characters stood in a circle throwing rocks at them :( but for my first proper SRPG I'm actually really enjoying it. If I get through this I might try FFT or one of the Nippon Ichi games

Once exams are over I'm gonna be following up on all (well maybe not quite all!) the PS2 games people recommended to me in the Retro folder. Starting with Ico though cos I've always fancied that.

DS: Apollo Justice - been playing through it again following the UK release and completed it today; the more I play it, the more I like the new characters, DS gimmicks and art direction. Need more though, and Perfect Prosecutor can't come soon enough.

PS2: Space Channel 5 - either the timing's a hell of a lot more forgiving than the DC version or I was on the "easier" variant, because I played it from start to finish this evening having not played it in months (maybe years), ending on a 99% viewing rate (spoiled by the final "chu") and unlocking a harder mode. Hmm...

360: DMC4 - not so much now that I've completed it, but I'm tempted to go back to some of the better missions...

Which I was doing every time ^_^ Thankfully I've beaten it now and finishing soda lake gave me star road access so i don't have to walk halfway across the map everytime I need a full set of power ups :P

I'm playing River City Ransom as I type

Finally got around to playing The Longest Journey, as part of my effort to play through some of the great (so I've been told) adventure games that I've missed out on this Summer. Rather enjoying it so far, some interesting characters and a few bits of background music that have really impressed me after a few hours of play.

I played Obscure 2 on the Wii for an hour today and decided I never want to play it again. The dialogue is astoundingly bad ("I can't push that, I'm just a weak girl" indeed - it may be deliberately dumb, but it's still awful), the camera is atrocious, and you're lucky if the aiming controls work 50% of the time. Thanks to a combination the latter two factors, I got killed twice by the first enemy in the game.

Abysmal.

360: Not been turned on since I finished Mass Effect a few months ago. May sell it.

PS3: GTAIV and Hot Shots Golf (weekend gaming)

PS2: Metal Gear Solid 2 (weeknight gaming), working towards MGS3 completion prior to MGS4 arriving

PSP: Still loving Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Online play with XLink FTW.

Finished GTA IV yesterday, will probably sporadically go back and get the pigeons/stunt jumps when I have some spare time.

Now? I'm back onto Call of Juarez and The Darkness. Get them both finished and I might even polish off Half Life 2 and the episodes from the Orange Box.

Mainly playing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

Why did no-one tell me it's the best Prime game and has the best Wii control setup of all Wii games?! A wonderful surprise and utterly compelling.
