The Fog...2005

First the abomination that was the remake of Assault on Precinct 13...and now this:

JC sort your neck out!

Expect CGI'd ghosts and an eighth of the atmosphere of the original.

Don't be stupid, wait until you have saw the movie before you criticise it. Can I just remind you of the superb Dawn of the Dead remake before you write off The Fog 2005.

I thought the "Assault..." remake was pretty good but then I am gay for Ethan Hawle.

The Fog may be a bt more dodgy I must admit. A bit like "Escape from LA" which I still like mostly because Snake is such a cool (if one dimensional) characters.

John Carpenter's Vampires was ace.

I thought it started off ace but then went all mediocre. It does however piss upon the sequel (Starring Bon Jovi no less) from a tremendous height.

Regarding the remake, I don't really see the point, I know there has been great remakes (Carpenter's The thing being one - sort of) but there's been a lot more shit ones. I'd rather they do something original really.

I'm just hoping that even Carpenter isn't so far gone that he realizes he couldn't improve on a film like 'The Thing' ( if you want to get technical then he did, with the film itself, but let's not get bogged down in semantics ), remaking that would be akin to a war crime.

The guy has just become so utterly cynical though, chuckling in interviews about giant royalty cheques 'inspiring' him to issue remakes, he honestly doesn't give a shit about his glory days anymore.

I dunno, the trailer kinda looks ok

Ah, but you see, I'm determined not to like it because it's yet another utterly pointless Hollywood remake of a film that's only twenty-odd years old. Films like these are the 'Atomic Kitten' of the movie world.

The only recent remake that's been any good at all has been 'Dawn of the Dead'.

I'm against a remake of The Thing because they'd just CGI it up and utterly ruin it. To me, The Thing is the single most finest horror movie ever made.

They'd wreck Escape from NY too.

The Fog was a decent little film and this could at least capture that.

As already stated, the best remake in a good while was the Dawn of the Dead one but to be honest, The Texas Chainsaw remake wasn't that bad either.

I am totally for that. The Thing is a great movie but the FX are really, really bad. While we are at can we have Robocop remade as well. ED209 looks terrible.

This is true (I know that JC's was a remake of sorts).

The Thing is a absolute classic horror movie. I'd say if Carpenter did a bit of digital re-jigging on the final boss (a bit like Lucas did with Star Wars) it would be ok but it should never be remade...it's good enough as it is.

It would be like remaking Jaws.
