Doctor Who

Sounds like it'll be completely separate from the programme entirely... The doctor will probably be an eccentric inventor who takes his hot granddaughter and her bumbling boyfriend on an adventure in his converted police box that he's called the TARDIS.

Clarke Peters is "The Doctor", a smooth bad-ass time traveller who's quirk is making miniature furniture. He lands his Nat'ral Po'lice box in late 20th-Century Baltimore, picking up new companion ex-stripper Sharonda to assist him in his attempt to help Baltimore PD take down notorious drug kingpin Avon Barksdale, and his trusted Lieutenant "Stringer" Bell, who may just have a little Gallifreyan blood pumping through his (two) heart(s)..

Mel Gibson wakes up one morning in Baja with total amnesia handcuffed to a wise-cracking yet disturbingly motherly prostitute named Rose (Nicole Sheridingzinger) and dressed only in a lab coat and stethoscope. Through violent team work and smart decision making they must hunt down her pimp, known only as 'The Master' (Mickey Rourke) so they can get the key to the handcuffs, resulting in chucklesome action escapades involving a hallucinogenic street drug known as Gallifrey and a gang of wheelchair-bound dealers calling themselves 'The Daleks.' It is important to know at this point that the handcuffs are indestructible and set to explode if they are tampered with. Along the way Rose teaches Mel Gibson how to love again as he tries to piece together his forgotten identity and the whole movie ends with a massive gufight at a beachfront mansion between the Daleks and The Master's small cadre of prosthetically enhanced goons that he calls 'Cybermen.'

Come the end of the movie, after Rose (Kirsten Stewart) has been lethally killed by the Cybermen by use of a sharpened calliper, Mel Gibson (Mickey Rourke) must face the Master (Alan Cummings) one on one against the hellish backdrop of a flaming swimming pool (Tom Hanks) to finally discover the secret which will lead to the answer to the question that has plagued him throughout the movie: 'Doctor Who?'

Hmm, it's missing just one thing to make it classic Doctor Who. Where's the 'Gay Agenda?'

You a fan? Just had The Lives and Times of Jerry Cornelius turn up. I was gonna apologise for going o/t but Captain Cornelius features in Moorcock's Coming of the Terraphiles, of course...

I know it's generally not well regarded, but I quite enjoyed* the film adaptation of The Final Programme. All appropriately Doctorish.

(*Apart from not being able to see the end due to a dodgy disc).
