Doctor Who

Brilliant episode, absolutely loved it. But, didnt some people on this forum guess that the Doctor was going to avoid his death when the Rebel flesh episodes came out, with River killing the flesh doctor? Which is basically what happened, but only with a robot.

Also, I hope to GOD that the line in the caves with the heads 'I HATE rats' was a hark back to Indie Jones 3. :)

Moffat is clearly trying to undo some of the excesses of New Who. And indeed old Who, because it has never been entirely internally consistent. The Doctor is down a peg or two, Daleks are floating about depowered a bit and a couple of collapses of time have sorted out everyone knowing about the Doctor and Earth's history having lots of planteary invasions. He's cleaned it up remarkably well.

The finale wasn't as good as last year but internally consistent and used ideas previously introduced to get out of the problem. Unlike an RTD one where it'd turn out he was Jesus.

Clearly not done with River. It looks like Amy and Rory are done. But wondering if there is still something left with Rory dying all the time. And can't see how 11 story's ends without involving Amy. So dunno.

I am more than done with Amy and Rory. I think they have run their course and we need an injection of something different - I'm not sure exactly what, though!

I am really excited about next year and the apparent scaling back. I think Moffat has done a good job, as mentioned above, of winding everything back.

Plothole in my mind: How could a clone robot start regenerating then? Eh? Eh? Eh?!!!?

Or that timeline didn't happen, so theres 3 timelines? Doctor dead. Doctor saved by River but time goes screwy. Doctor saves self with robot clone.

To be honest besides the one-offs I've found both Moffat's series in regards to main plot being needlessly complicated for what the show was before this.

But I still enjoyed how this particular episode wrapped things up/explained things. Very clever ending.

It could just be the illusion of regeneration. The robot spews out a yellow light show for the people watching, presumably The Doctor told the robot operators what a regeneration should look like.
