I was actually really impressed by the portrayal of present day Earth on this occasion. It was really well shot, with loads of nice touches like the shot through the kitchen window thing. You could tell that they were trying as hard as they could to make an ordinary location extraordinary.

I thought it was fantastic. Really creepy and effective, far too scary for a 7PM timeslot, great monsters, would have properly freaked me out as a kid. Infinitely better than Gatiss's two previous efforts. Really well-paced, too - all of Moffat's episodes run at a million miles per hour and this was given a bit of space to breathe.

I'm growing into such a girl! The bit where the dad leapt to the rescue nearly made me cry.

Fuck being a parent! It sucks! It makes you cry at everything involving a bloody child!

Aside from that, I quite enjoyed it. Good monsters and the like. Reminiscent of Fear Her and also an old episode of Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense (not Horror) where a family wake up to find their house encased in metal, slowly getting warmer and green goo slowly spreading from the fireplace in the front room. Turns out

they're all dolls in a doll house owned by a little girl, and the girl's brother has nicked it and put it in a metal locker and stuck his green ice lolly down the chimney.

I quite like it when the whole episode is just based on seeing how much they can scare the crap out of kids. Very mean. It's fun. Especially when they also introduce the idea that even though you're scared, it's not real... oh wait, yes it is. You best never get a good nights sleep again.

I quite enjoyed Episode 9 of Torchwood. It was written by one of the main Children of Earth writers, which might be well it felt better. It's a pity they didn't introduce this level of momentum and amount of info about the main threat much sooner. After 8 episodes of padding, it seems from where everything is at the end of 9 that 10 will be incredibly rushed.

Okay i get that jack is gay and all and that every bloody week we have to be told yet again just how gay he is .. and i can kind of forgive a whole episode where Jack gets to shag a bloke for 45 minutes ... but really ..... the big baddy at the end of this is a Vagina the size of the world, the most scary thing imaginable .. if your gay.

Maybe RTD needs to go and get some therapy or something.

All the women have had a rough ride in this series, with the red head lass getting a beating off the rapist chap. the old lady loses her husband WHO'S GOING TO FUCKING WELL DIE THE MOMENT THE MIRACLE ENDS YOU FUCKING IDIOTS ... WHAT ARE YOU KEEPING HIM ALIVE FOR !!!!! the Welsh lass getting a beating, losing her father, getting a beating, losing her child then getting her child back. etc. Whilst the Really really gay character has been having a ball up to now .. until he gets close to the big bad giant Vagina in the warehouse when suddenly all his big gay powers are stolen. meanwhile the heterosexual black guy is almost killed, meets a nice heterosexual doctor lady who is then randomly killed after all her plot bits are done with (oh errr what shall we do .. oh lets just kill here of and save the father for a bit)and then he is thwarted by the blonde lesbian baddy.

What happened to story telling rather than agenda pushing ?

The thing that annoys me about the GAYgenda (lol) with Jack is that was meant to be "Omni-Sexual". Shag anything that moves. In Who S1 he went for ladies, men, plants, office furniture etc..

But he's pretty much just a butt pirate now. Over the entire Torchwood he's had countless boys, and IIRC he;s had one girl (the mother of the grandchild in CoE - off screen with no "action" between them).

I'm not sure if it's JB's preferences coming through or RTD's, but Jack might as well just be a rump ranger now.

Well, as a new (and suffice to say disappointed) viewer watching the Miracle day series you certainly wouldn't have thought that Jack was bi or 'omni' sexual. He just comes across as gay. Which is fine if the character is gay. If the character is meant to just fancy anything that moves then it seems strange that the gay part is focused so extensively.

Yup. Jack's character is supposed to be "Anything he can stick his cock in". Men, goats, pizza boxes, passenger jets, Rose, your lunch, the dev team for Crackdown 2. This series of Torchwood has been bizarre with regard to that. Any new viewer will think he's just gay. I have no idea why they did that.

That's quite apart from the entire 10 episodes being fucking rubbish (Yes. I include the new episode despite having never seen it)

I think this sums up just how lazy the writing in this terrible series is.

In an earlier episode Winston Zeddemore sends a spy to investigate what's going on in Shanghai. Said spy discovers something offscreen and then kills himself. The obvious implication being that whatever it was he found was so horrible he couldn't go on living with the knowledge of it. The audience is intrigued and wants to see what the big reveal will be that would cause a man to do that.

Fast forward to this episode. Turns out there's a giant kebab meat vagina running through the planet. Really, that's your reveal? Why did he kill himself then? So RTD has a character basically go "Sometimes it randomly makes people kill themselves when they look at it lol".
